Older Yorkies My 2 babies are getting older now, 9 and 11. Am I the only crazy one who wonders, what will I do when one of them "goes"? I treasure every moment I have with them both. The older one, Bentley, is having arthritis issues, but other than that, they both seem to be doing well. Does anyone else out there worry?:( |
I can asure you your not crazy for wondering. Myn are less than 5 years old and I'm already worried about looseing my babies because I know I will put live them and it scares me. |
I'm sure a lot of people worry... It's only natural. I do not know how I will go on when my two pass, but I try not to think about it. I try to enjoy the time I have with them now. I am always taking them to the park, on trips and to doing fun things because I want them to have the best life possible. I know I will look back and smile at the time we had together. |
I worry about them all the time. Daisy will be 10 on Friday and Teddy Bear will be 10 in Feb. I can see aging in their faces a little and they have slowed down. It makes me sad. But come to think of it I think I have worried about them from day 1. Lol |

My Mini is 8.2 years old, but I've noticed she has slowed down a lot and unless your waving bacon or a carrot at her she doesn't go crazy for too much anymore! She has her playful spurts but seems as though she sleeps a lot more, wants to be princessed a lot more and she is my Puppymill baby so she has had many many many issues and will soon need her lp surgeries and to answer your question I can't imagine, not for a minute her being gone:confused::(:(:( Yes I do think about it... |
dog My Spud is 9. His dad, Teddy Peanut Bear left us at 10 yrs old. Spud is slowing down a bit but still gets his barks in when he can. I am not going to allow myself to worry about him. The Lord, his creator knows the number of his days. I pray I get to have him for a long time but if I have to hand him over I will with lots of tears. I love this ole dog even though he can be a stinker at times. Yorkies are precious no matter what! |
I have two furbabies, my yorkie is 13 yrs old and my cat is 14 yrs old. My cat I rescue as a stray 6 week old kitten and Brandi I got 7 yrs ago. I am starting to notice little things like how my cat is isolating a lot more. She was never really a social cat but she is definitely keeping to her self a lot more. I haven't noticed any changes in her physically. She seems as energetic as usual. Maybe it's just me being paranoid because i know she is getting up there in age. Brandi was recently diagnose with liver shunts but she seems to be doing fine. I often wonder what it will be like when both have passed on. In many ways, I depend on them for things such as comfort and laughter. For now I just cherished the time I have with them. Since they are not the best of friends, I doubt they would missed each other should one pass away. |
JJ just went in for his annual and the doc said he was the healthiest yorkie she has seen in many years, his teeth are good and his legs seeem great. he does not seem to have any problems with his legs(yet) cross my fingers. and he still seems to act like a young pup most times, he does take a lot of naps. keeping my fingers crossed he lasts a lot longer. |
forgot to put he is already 8 years 4 months |
I worry about it all the time even though morgan is only 2// he has definitely put his paw prints on my heart// when I got morgan, I already had to put 2 of my older dogs to sleep 9 months earlier so I never figured that I would love him as much as I loved my yellow lab but surprise, I do// I did the minute he was put in my arms:animal-pa |
I see that my baby girl's eyes are a little cloudy and she is getting more clingy. She likes to lie on the bathroom floor when the a/c clicks on and feel the cool air. She just started coming to get me to come into the bathroom and sit with her while she sleeps on the floor. It has me a little puzzled. |
It's pretty natural. As Minnie got up in age I had no idea how I would cope and knew it would just crush me when it eventually happened... and it ended up about 10x worse than I expected it to be when we lost her. I guess we need to count ourselves lucky that we have bonds strong enough to make losing them a living hell. My life was so much richer for the time I had with Minnie after we rescued her. I have to say getting a young yorkie after about 6 weeks of grieving ended up being the best thing for me though. Cookie just melts my heart and helps make me happy again after I felt like a zombie for a while after Minnie died. I know the love of a dog is just so good for one's mental and physical health, and the dogs need us too. |

I know what you mean, my big dogs are both 12 years old which is the average lifespan. I got my two little guys to help me when the time comes, plus the puppies rejuvenate my older dogs. My senior dogs are more active now as the teach the pups manners, one has even lost ten pounds. I believe my little puppies have added on more time with my big guys ( my first dogs). Plus, they will make it easier on the one big dog who is left behind when their best friend goes and a little easier on me. |
I also have four cats of older years, youngest 8 and oldest 11, with one who passed away at 14 last year, these are all the first pets my husband and I got when we first got married. Our daughters are attached to all of them so we hope these young puppies will make it a bit easier when the time comes. |
