Strange goings on Background; Girl 'Crystal' born 1/11/13, we re-homed her June 18th this year, to a quiet retired couple home, with no other pets. Good natured little soul, who desperately wants to please. Crystal has always slept in my wife's room - but last night she kept scratching at her door to get in with Dad? I've never seen her quite so tired at bed time, following our evening walk, topped by an absolutely mad half hour of play when we got back. However that said, we are currently experiencing very hot and humid weather. My wife's room is not air conditioned (her request), whereas mine and the rest of the apartment is. Recently mummy Crystal has been working six days a week covering for holiday leaves and I've always walked her exclusively anyway. During these sojourns as we've got to know each other, we debate widely as we make our way in the evening's peaceful cool. Mrs Doc and I wonder if a combination of these factors is turning her into a 'Daddy's Girl' now? Those who may have read my other posts will know this activity is a complete reversal from her early days here... |
Perhaps. To be honest, Mandie is a Daddy's Girl. She always has been. However, even she will waffle on occasion and find herself up under me for a night or two. I think if we made her choose...she would choose Daddy. But she has her "I want my mommy" moments too. :D |
How sweet. You can only hope that she is becoming daddy's girl, and not just in search of the cooler room. It is only reasonable that she would bond with the person she spends the most time with, and for now that seems to be daddy. Enjoy the honor while it lasts, as they can be oh so fickle sometimes.:D |

What great fun this 'voyage of discovery' with these funny little creatures is? |

Let Mummy Crystal be the one who does the 'nasty' things like bathing and worming etc and Daddy be the one who does the Fun Stuff like walks and training - she'll soon be glued to YOUR side ;) :D Seriously tho'.....I've told my hubby Neil that if he steals MY yorkie's affections there'll be trouble to pay!!! ;) :p |
morgan loves both of us equally// my husband is retired so he is home with Morgan all the time but morgan goes nuts when I get home |
I think little girls are more independent. They'll go where the lovin' is. I live with my daughter. Lucy sleeps with me but sometimes she prefers my daughter (who's not always thrilled with the arrangement because she has a twin bed.) One time, I tried to move Lucy from my daughter's bed to my room & Lucy just looked up at me and gave a low, intense growl as if to day, "don't you DARE touch me!" So, I let her stay put. Next night, Lucy was back with me in the big comfy bed. She keeps her options open. |
I so enjoy your posts Doc, so elequent. Alfie was a present to me from my husband, but he is the teensiest bit fonder of my husband than me. Hubby plays rough with him which he loves, whereas I am afraid of hurting him. Hubby stays up later than I do so has more 121 cuddle time although I try to get as much in as I can (he sleeps in the living room, dog not husband). We both walk and play ball with him in the park every night. I am constantly huffing at my husband to stop stealing my dog. |
I, too, am loving your 'Discovery Days' posts! Brings back so many memories! When my Peek A Boo was an 'only' dog... I knew I was bugging him too much, lol. He seemed depressed after the passing of his housemates, so I decided to get him a friend, as he seemed to really perk up around one of the neighborhood Yorkies. Well, we found Tink at the Humane Society and brought her home... and he really doesn't care for her at all! Since then we've added 2 more, a Yorkie, Sapphire, and a Biewer, Infinity. He and Sapphire could be twins, and they get along great. Infinity is more equal in size to Tink, and they get along well too. Peek and Sapphy are Momma's boy and girl, but they do also like my DH. Sapph was fearful of him in the beginning, and prefers to seek him out in bed while he's lying down. So cute to watch her sneak up to him and sneak him some kisses (usually when he's asleep!) Tink loves her Daddy, and insists he pick her up asap after he comes in from work. But then she sits on his lap and looks at me, like she's trying to make me jealous or something... too funny. I love hearing about the interactions between people and their dogs, and trying to figure out exactly what the dogs are up to! |
:D Hee hee!!! After all the heartache you've gone through, trying to get your little Crystal on 'your side' just a teensy-weensy little bit, I'm just feeling so very, very happy that finally she's getting so into daddy...!!! :D Harry has his moments too...he absolutely adores his daddy - but when Andy goes to work, especially after a couple of days off  oh my goodness there's all hell to pay.... Ignoring him, chewing his finger instead of licking it, actually turning his back on Andy....running past him to get to me with a kind of backward glance to Andy almost neh-neh-neh-neh-neh, it's AWFUL!!! :D But actually very, very funny - and yes, they ARE fickle! Keep enjoying! :D Sally + Harry x |
You all are coming along wonderfully in your bonding!!! Good job, Daddy. Sounds like one sweet little girl is settling herself nicely into her new home. I, too, so enjoy reading your insightful posts. |
