He also peed on everything.. carpet, our bed, his bed.. and the trick is to catch them in the act... the second you see the little one start to pee, you yell NO! and you bring them outside or on the pad.. if you find the pee afterwards, dont' even bother to yell, they won't get it. (might be hard to do with 6 yorkies)

now whenever he needs to go.. he runs to the door, gives a little bark, and we let him out. when we were going out, we used to gate him in the kitchen and leave him a pad.. now, we give him free reign of the house, with a pad or two..and most of the time he holds it anyway.

stick with the training either way. you dont' want your whole life to be cleaning up pee. and when they are properly trained they are a joy!!

we also have a cat, and have no experience w/ toby getting into the litter and eating his poo..i think i would die if he did that!!

My mom said that a friend of hers has had her Yorkie for 5 years, and that he goes on pee pads all the time, and only goes outside when it's warm. So, all in all, it's not much different than having cats inside and having a litter box for them! And after reading other threads on here, it can be an advantage when your not at home all-day, everyday. At least she has my 2 cats to keep her company. Does anyone have cats in the house, along with their Yorkie? (I've had my newly-adopted Yorkie for only 3 days) And I keep worrying that she might get into the cat's litter box, etc etc....ICK!

I have 6 Yorkies and not a one is trained ! They do use the wee pads, I keep one upstairs and one downstairs...but they also go on the carpet in the living room and family room...they go anywhere there is a scatter rug or something soft on the floor ! All I do all dayis mop and clean and then mop and clean some more..... :mad: :mad:

Lacey was paper trained. And she always would go on her paper. Newspaper was set in the laundry room in a certain spot for her. She was paper trained very early. Can't even remember her ever having an accident in the house after she was trained. We would just pick up her paper after she went and put down new paper after. But, we still took her outside because she loved it. And all dogs need excersise. If she had to go to the bathroom while she was outside, of course she would go. Paper training was great for us. We don't have to worry about getting woke up extra early, to let her out. Or have to get up in the middle of the night. And if we go somewhere, we don't have to worry about her having to hold her bladder all day. When we finally get Chloe, we are going to train her the same way that we trained Lacey.
