Hmmm...? Ok, so I don't know if I should be complaining or not but... Reign will not go "pee-pee" or "potty" on his pads. This has been going on for a couple of months and I don't know whether I should give up and accept it. He does not pee or poo inside the house. He ONLY wants to go outside. Which is good, but if it's raining or late he will hold it instead of using his pads! This is crazy, like I'm trying to bribe him with treats to make him go. He's looking at me like, you know what to do, take me outside. I guess if I left him and he HAD to go he would go on the pad. I don't know... anyone else have this issue or suggestions? Maybe it's not a big deal :( |
Hmm I have no idea anymore. Just when I think I have it figured out Peanut poops in the guest room! Haha Can you leave him with a pad to see if he uses it? I mean listen you are complaining bc he doesnt go on the pad, he wants to go outside LOL How about I send Pnut to you and then you can see how frustrating it "could" be!?! Hehehe |
I know, it probably sounds ridiculous. Maybe I'm over-reacting because I'm going back to work soon and I worry about everything. I'm hoping he doesn't hold his pee all day waiting for me to come take him out. So, I have been doing test runs and getting him used to being in his cage more often. I have been with him 24-7 since the day I got him. So, it's a big change and I worry about him. I'm tearing up as I'm writing this. I know if anyone understands it's my fellow YTers. Thank you for your response. |
You really don't know how lucky you are! :) Take him out in the rain with a big golf umbrella - I do. I take Lucy out late at night too. I use a big bright lantern. When it snows, I take a shovel & make a path for Lucy to walk in & she wears a nice down coat. You may confuse him if try to break him of going only outside. He really shouldn't be alone long enough to have to pee inside. I say keep him going out of the house if possible. Good luck. |
Oh no!! Back to work!! I have Christmas vacation and I always hate leaving Pnut to go back to work, I hate seeing his little face when I walk out of the door! Well all you can do is do your test runs, when you leave a pad out does he go on them... At all?? I understand your concern about him holding it! |

That may make it a little easier. Hope it all works out. Good luck. Tracey |
If you must use a pad, then keep him confined to a smaller area, like your kitchen. Also, you can buy that spray that makes the pad smell like the area to go. |
MishyMish I sure wish I had your problem. Teasell knows where to go but at time makes so many mistakes. I know when she heads to the hallway where her piddle pads are. If I tell her she will use it. She likes to be praised but has been so stubborn with the traing |
I would love an only outside dog. How about putting pads by the door. He won't hold it for that long while you are at work so at least it close to the door. |
Have you tried one of those spray that's supposed to help them know where to go? I used it for Magnus when I was pad training him and it helped. I sprayed some on the pad and he'd sniff at the spot then pee. |
I understand. I have a rescue - she lived her whole life (8years) in a cage. She is TERRIFIED of the outdoors! She will go out and pee, but won't stay out long enough to poop. I have been home for the summer and will return to work in late August. I wish I could pad train her. Hope it goes well for you. |
