I didn't know how smart yorkies are!! I just wanted to say that I am amazed at how smart my 9 week old puppy is! She learned to sit with two treats last night and has done it all day without a treat. She fetches, brings the ball to me and drops it for me to throw again. I tell her to sit and wait, and she does! Then I throw the ball and we do it again. It's amazing! This is my first yorkie after owning maltese and golden retrievers. My other dogs are smart but NEVER learned any thing at 8 weeks and almost instantly. Which only makes me wonder even more, why in the world are they so hard to potty train??!! I'm wondering what other fun things you all teach your puppy to do? Jodi |
My boys I have two male yorkies, each a year old. Benni is the smartest when it comes to tricks, but then I wonder. Benni will dance, sit down, laydown, rollover, give me a high five, jump into the air to give me a two pawed high sign, fetch, sit pretty, dance and come when he is called. Garrett will sit and come when called. Garrett will sit and watch Benni go through his repertoire of tricks for his treats. Garrett will sit calmly, look at Benni and you can almost hear the wheels turning in his head, saying "look at the dummy, going through all that to get a treat, I don't have to do anything, and I still get MY TREAT" So whose smarter, beats me! they are indeed amazingly intelligent. almost human. i got to tell ya we can't even spell in front of these two. i guess i have spelled some select things so much that they now know what i am talking about. guish these two are so spoiled. Buckeye doesn't play but Ahia loves that ball fetching. someone on here suggested to play some tug with her so she would lose some of those baby teeth. well she loves the tug with the tennis ball. i was afraid at first that i was tugging so hard her teeth would pull right out. duh!!!!! |
