well now both ears have dropped my baby KoKos ears were both really erect one dropped last week or early in the week and last night the other dropped and neither is even trying to popup she is 8 weeks old. is this normal? :( |
Yes.....especially on a baby that young. |
Depending on the thickness of the ear yes it is normal for their ears to be erect and than to fall again. Especially as they get more and thicker hair on the ear also. Its best to keep them trimmed or better yet shaved until they are about 6-7 months old and than sometime will still need periodic rimming in order for them to remain standing. If you do it yourself you must be very careful not to cut the ear. Use your fingers as a guide to the edge of the ear and a guideline for cutting the hair. If you cant shave them than just use scissors to take some of the thickness off of the backs of the ears. |
I use a tiny clipper and shave just the top 1/3 of the ear tips. If they have a lot of hair on their ears, they will flop. Also sometime, when they are teething, their ears might do the same thing. |
I massaged Trinket`s ears and they stood up the next day. Maybe that would help. They will stand up as she gets older. Don`t hold me to that as I am not an expert, but Trinket`s did. |

Trim the hair on her ears. The less weight on the ears, the more likely they are to stand. Yes, this is very normal for a teething puppy :) |
Yup..as I mentioned in your previous thread..this is normal in young babies and teething pups. Trim the tips when the hair gets heavier and massage. They should pop back up :) |
My Lucy simply HATES the clipper on her ears. I use a small (5") round tipped & curved grooming scissor. It gives ME a little comfort when I'm trimming the sensitive parts or close to skin. I don't know whether the big pet stores carry those scissors, but you can find them online from grooming supply sites or even Amazon. I personally feel a little "safer" purchasing stuff on Amazon. Good luck. Tracey |
Oh yes, my little mans went from both down, to one up one down, to both up, to one up one down again, to now up. So weird! |
