Burrowing and Circles Background; Girl 'Crystal' born 1/11/13, we re-homed her June 18th this year, to a quiet retired couple home, with no other pets. Good natured little soul, who desperately wants to please. 1) Burrowing; Although she's always displayed this activity, recently 'Crystal' has begun transmogrifying into a canine mining machine. The intensity of endeavour to go through our duvet covers, into whatever lies beneath, in her land of genetic imagination, is spectacular to witness and very amusing. Is this a phase? 2) Circles; We had some frozen pizzas delivered in the weekly shop, for the first time since 'Her Majesty's' arrival. Immediately she saw them emerge from the trolley she went into a huge barking phase. Now if anything circular over about 12" of diameter, is presented to her it initiates a similar response. Has she come from another planet and these shapes remind her of the bus home? Any suggestions considered please? |
I'd love to hear more about burrowing, as my Bug does this too. It's like she's trying to dig through my furniture. She seems happy when she does it.... |

She has not yet tried to get to Australia, via our beaches here, and the sands so soft, never mind I'm sure the 'training' with our duvets is just preparation! |
So, anything in the form of a large circle makes her bark? Hmmm..what else besides the pizza? |
For my two, burrowing has not been a phase. P-Nut is a more aggressive and enthusiastic burrower; this hasn't changed in the nearly 2 years we've had him. It's pretty funny...unless he's digging in my hair when I'm trying to sleep. :D |

I have no idea how to reply to your post other than to say you made me laugh hysterically and blow soda out my nose. Ours do the burrowing thing all the time, but I don't know about her circle fetish, that's a new one to me. :) |

Mine burrows every night before she settles down for bed. It is the most hilarious thing ever. I have now made it a joke when she begins, to say "Digga, digga digga!" She just continues to go for it. |
Most of our dogs dig up a spot on the bed before they settle down however Zoe our Shorkie digs our sofa usually to bury something she wants to save or dig up something she's saved. |
My big dog does it. |
our bella does the same thing like she is making her a spot on our bed ! lol....the she has this stuffed monkey ( 3yrs now) she will try to hump it ! not kidding...its is sooo funny.and she is fixed.....lol |
Thats the joy of this place, because as you read you can associate with others predicaments and entertainments as well. I too laugh out loud, seeing in my mind' eye similar eccentricities that are now a part of my very changed and previously ordered life! |
The terriers do not borrow, it's the papillon that likes to borrow under pillows and covers. The funniest thing to me is... Sabre found a bone in the backyard. I saw him walk around and LOOK for a place to put the bone. It was like under the giant clump of dandelion leaves.. nope, under the other giant clump of dandelion leaves.. Nope. Hmmm.. Under the brush pile.. Nope.. Then he said forget it, and dug a hole between my fence and the neighbors fence, put in his bone and then covered it up. I NEVER saw a dog do that before now and I still think it's hilarious, lol. |
