ASPCA Mobile Neutering
 
I have a six month Yorkie and am contemplating having him neutered by the ASPCA. Does anyone have any experience? I am a little uneasy about it. Although expensive, should I stick with my vet? :animal-pa:animal36:animal-pa:animal36:animal-pa

my personal opinion is stick with your vet. plus you want to be sure any retained baby teeth (if any) can be taken out while under for the neuter.

:thumbup: Yes, get 2 things done @ once & not have to go under again to get their retained baby teeth extracted is worth the xtra expense & not that expensive in the long run.
I'm not sure if ASPCA does blood testing b4 the surgery? I think it's important to get this done so the vet knows how everything is functioning & your baby will be ok w/anesthesia or not.

I would stick to your own vet. I am going through the same thing with Biscuit my chihauha/jack russel mix. He's just about 10 months old now. We used to take our dogs to a low cost neutering animal hospital but found out they don't pre screen and now we are taking our dogs to our own vet. Although it's more expensive it's worth the extta money for the health of your puppy.

I have had our pets spayed at the SPCA. They did pre-op bloodwork as well. The vet and staff at our local SPCA are wonderful.

I would stick with your normal vet. I actually just got my little girl spayed.. I didnt go with my normal vet only because they told me it would cost about $500 just for the spay. They told me they do it by age and weight so it must be a ton for big dogs!! I went to an animal clinic near me that is amazing. It was only $200 and they did blood work before :).

If the SPCA will pull teeth and both testicles are descended do it, neuter is a simple procedure and usually quick, all of my dogs including teddy (3.5 lbs at neuter). I would wait until 8 months to a year for growth plate closure and retained teeth. Pull teeth at time of neuter.

Simply visit Friends of Animals by going to Friends of Animals - Home, click on "Spay/Neuter Certificates," type in your zip code, fill out the Spay/Neuter Certificates Request and they'll send you instructions on how to purchase your certificate. By providing them with your zip code, they'll send you a list of participating veterinarians in your area that accept the program. You may be surprised to find that your own vet participates in the program. Rates are as follows:

Female Cat Spay $65.00
Male Cat Neuter $51.00
Female Dog Spay $90.00
Male Dog Neuter $64.00

My vet didn't come up on the search but maybe someone will get lucky and see that their vet participates.
