That is another reason I don't really like wood floors. It is so slippery for Peanut- he has fell a couple times. |

I use all of this and I refuse to change anything until it doesn't work :) : 1. Espree Show Silk Shampoo (or Silk Show..?) 2. Nova Pearls cream rinse 3. Espree Restore Serum 4. Halo Dream Coat (she gets this every few days) 5. I also use a spray conditioner that has argan oil in it |

My dad installed a runner on the stairs bc Mimi was scared of going up & down on it. I had to carry her all the time, now she flies up & down the stairs all by herself. |

Have you decided yet? We just returned for Lowes and Home depot... Grrr! What a trip! I love wood floors, easy clean up, no worry about getting fleas out, or pee smell. Area rugs will soften the look. I don't know if they still make those vinyl mats that you can use under rolling chairs, but maybe one of those over carpeting for Peanuts pee pad would work. |

LOL Not even close!! |
when Jess was training in the kitchen area I had her in a very large pen. I have tile in the kitchen and there is no way to close it off as it is all open and the doorways are 12 feet wide. Anyway I bought the pen and then went to home depot and bought large sheets of plastic plexi and put them over the entire area she was in. the I put the pad in one area and the rest was plexi. So when she missed the pad as little paper towel ad that doggy enzyme cleaner cleaned it all up in a second. |
I vote for wood and area rugs. Carpet grosses me out. I've pulled up a ton of carpet and you always find dirt, dog pee and all sorts of stuff under it... Vacuuming does not get everything. I prefer wood because you can vacuum and clean it and you know it is clean. My two would pee on carpet, so I know I could never install carpet and I would never want to. |
1 Attachment(s) After Ken passed I put hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room and dining room and halls. He hated wood floors. After I brought Nikki in my 3 girls decided they liked to pee on the carpets. I couldn't stand the smell in the house even with shampooing them regularly. A friend and I ripped up all the flooring except the bedrooms. It was so gross to see all the pee stains. I also replaced all the bedroom carpets with new carpet. I bought the newer carpet that pee beads up on and is odor resistant. I also bought a waterproof padding. It does seem to work. The door to the 2 bedrooms that I don't use, are closed and the dogs are not allowed in there. They have access to 1/2 of my bedroom, the bed and the walk in closet. The carpet in those areas are covered with plastic. This is where their pee pads are as well. They did have access to the rest of the house until recently. 2 of them started peeing on the wood floors! So now they are gated in my bedroom when I'm not home. So I am so glad I went with wood since I can't seem to break them of their bad habits. Ideally, I would like ceramic tile in my kitchen, bathrooms and halls and wood in living room, dining room and bedrooms. I didn't go with wood in my bedrooms because of cost but with my stinkers I wish I could have. Here's a picture of my wood floors. |
