LOL Dh too! Well Pnut is a royal brat. He goes up and down. Some nights he sleeps with me all night, others he is in his crate, then some nights he is back and forth LOL

When I woke up this morning the little stinker was snuggled under my chin!! Hehee I love waking up to him!

So the thing for me- if I pick carpet for the bedroom. I would have to make sure he didn't get up at night to pee!!

So true! Lucky for us the fleas at our house are not bad at all. Peanut has neve had a flea, we treat our grass as well so I don't think any live in there ;)

Do you have grass? We use a really good pet friendly product- it kills everything living in the grass LOL!! We use it on the hot months.

You can use a tile sealer on your bathroom tile/grout and it seals the grout so nothing soaks in. I seal my kitchen and baths every 6 months or so. It also keeps the grout looking like new because dirt doesn't get in either.

I have an area rug in my living room...I sprayed it with that NO stuff...so far so good...today I am taking up the vinyl flooring I installed in their room...I hate it:eek: I'm going to put an area rug that I found at home depot...it has a solid plastic/rubber backing...I am going to spray it with NO....but if they pee on it I have a $100 shampooer always on standby...

I don't think there is an easy answer here, Peanut is Peanut...just find the quickest, less damaging way to handle it...hopefully in time it won't be an issue.

Oh and I'm going to buy one of those rubber backed rugs to put over my area rug for "most days" just in case....

Hmm what is this No stuff? Does it really work? The thing is with these little ones their pee is so small LOL It is so hard to see. Sometimes Peanut will pee like a dime size- how am I going to catch that on carpet!!?? LOL I'm not till it builds up and builds up then I will have a carpet full of pee! YUCK

That tile is retro 60s like the house lol. I probably would've went a different direction, but I rent. hehe

Can you not see the flooring in this pic?

 Great Idea! I'm sure DH already knows this he just doesn't tell me, He says I ask too many questions as it is!! LOL

I agree with the rugs, since Pnut uses his pad- he will use any rug in the house. I have bath mats- I hate walking on cold tile after I shower.. we have to keep the bathroom door shut, or Peanut will use that as his potty pad.

We lived next door to a Yorkie Breeder, well it was her son that lived there. She would come down from AZ and stay with him sometimes. She would bring her puppies.. I was talking to her one day and she told me the problem with pee pads is they won’t know the difference- which at the time I thought was silly. I thought no way they wouldn't know. One pad smells like pee and one doesn't… well turns out she was right LOL

This is the color: Attachment 389172
I like the engineered wood darker brown almost black color, it's beautiful but expensive, maybe we'll get the laminate version next time.:p

Since we don't use bath mats, I use a towel & hang it up after. During the colder months, I have fuzzy slippers on or leave one in the bathroom...but it always disappears when I do that bc Turbo takes it & stashes it somewhere loll!

Yes I have grass, but don't treat it. What is the product you use? I seem to have little ants and would like to get rid of them.

Aww, thanks! Yes, this was yesterday. :) She had just had a bath

My landlord put that flooring down right before we moved in. It was carpet when I first looked at the house. I was disappointed at first. But then I absolutely fell in love with it.

That is a nice wood tone. My floors are engineered teak, a beautiful redish brown color, but have to admit that the darker wood shows dust more. And friends that got really light maple color say that it darkens over time, except where furniture or rugs are, so that can be a problem.

Many choices out there.

Ohhh that is gorgeous. I love the darker colors as well. My brother has some beautiful floors. It is really dark..he paid some good money for it too! I attached two pics, my sweet little niece is in them! LOL

The first pic is recent, she started dance class!
The second was last Christmas! :D

I want to tear all of the carpeting out of our house because I would rather have something that can be cleaned regularly. However, the senior citizen doesn't want hardwood stairs, and the dogs do prefer running on carpeted areas.

Its called Eco Smart.. it really smells awful. For a day or so- its really strong. It works wonders- We get pincher bugs, ants, spiders, lots of creepy crawlers. Oh and we get wasps and bees in our grass, when we have this stuff in our grass I don't see anything come out of it!

Oh no.. so you have carpet and what else? I think it would be hard for the boys to go up stairs without carpet...

That is another reason I don't really like wood floors. It is so slippery for Peanut- he has fell a couple times.

I think I did lol. I have so many variables involved that I'm not willing to say it is one certain thing. Ya know? lol

I use all of this and I refuse to change anything until it doesn't work :) :

1. Espree Show Silk Shampoo (or Silk Show..?)
2. Nova Pearls cream rinse
3. Espree Restore Serum
4. Halo Dream Coat (she gets this every few days)
5. I also use a spray conditioner that has argan oil in it

Yeah, they're very expensive but so beautiful...I like the distressed look & my dad says, why pay so much $ for something that looks old loll. He said the same thing w/the shredded/torn up used levi's I used to buy @ Melrose in my high school days.
My dad installed a runner on the stairs bc Mimi was scared of going up & down on it. I had to carry her all the time, now she flies up & down the stairs all by herself.

LOL! Holy molly girl! That is some bundle. I bet she smells so good after her bath and weeks after! Hey as long as something is working it doesn't matter!

She looks great that's all that matters!!

I like it too. DH is the same way- when I come home with jeans with holes in them! Haha .

Have you decided yet? We just returned for Lowes and Home depot... Grrr! What a trip!

I love wood floors, easy clean up, no worry about getting fleas out, or pee smell. Area rugs will soften the look.

I don't know if they still make those vinyl mats that you can use under rolling chairs, but maybe one of those over carpeting for Peanuts pee pad would work.

LOL Not even close!!

when Jess was training in the kitchen area I had her in a very large pen. I have tile in the kitchen and there is no way to close it off as it is all open and the doorways are 12 feet wide. Anyway I bought the pen and then went to home depot and bought large sheets of plastic plexi and put them over the entire area she was in. the I put the pad in one area and the rest was plexi. So when she missed the pad as little paper towel ad that doggy enzyme cleaner cleaned it all up in a second.

CouversMom 07-15-2013 11:38 AM

I vote for wood and area rugs. Carpet grosses me out. I've pulled up a ton of carpet and you always find dirt, dog pee and all sorts of stuff under it... Vacuuming does not get everything. I prefer wood because you can vacuum and clean it and you know it is clean. My two would pee on carpet, so I know I could never install carpet and I would never want to.

After Ken passed I put hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room and dining room and halls. He hated wood floors. After I brought Nikki in my 3 girls decided they liked to pee on the carpets. I couldn't stand the smell in the house even with shampooing them regularly.
A friend and I ripped up all the flooring except the bedrooms. It was so gross to see all the pee stains.
I also replaced all the bedroom carpets with new carpet. I bought the newer carpet that pee beads up on and is odor resistant. I also bought a waterproof padding. It does seem to work.
The door to the 2 bedrooms that I don't use, are closed and the dogs are not allowed in there. They have access to 1/2 of my bedroom, the bed and the walk in closet. The carpet in those areas are covered with plastic. This is where their pee pads are as well.

They did have access to the rest of the house until recently. 2 of them started peeing on the wood floors! So now they are gated in my bedroom when I'm not home.
So I am so glad I went with wood since I can't seem to break them of their bad habits.

Ideally, I would like ceramic tile in my kitchen, bathrooms and halls and wood in living room, dining room and bedrooms. I didn't go with wood in my bedrooms because of cost but with my stinkers I wish I could have.
Here's a picture of my wood floors.

I forgot about pulling ours up and all the CRAP that was under it! It was a fine sand like grit, all over the place. After 15yrs of the previous owners use- it was disgusting to see! My allergies also cleared up a bit more after the carpet was gone!
