My heart is broken... I went down to Lewiston with my family for a couple of days, while I was there I looked around the town and went into multiple stores. I came across a pet store and I knew I shouldn't have gone in but my curiosity got the better of me. What I saw broke my heart. There were little Chihuahua puppies for sale and I knew right away that they were from a puppymill. They were tiny, my guess is that they were barely 6 weeks and one was trying to nurse the other:( It broke my heart, I nearly burst into tears right there in the store. I knew there was nothing I could do to save those puppies without condemning their parents. After staring at their sweet, innocent faces for a little while I finally left. I drove back to where we were staying and the first thing I did was hug Henri (we were able to bring the dogs with us), I thanked my lucky stars that he never had to go through that, I kissed him and snuggled him and cried. This kind of thing breaks my heart and makes me angry that puppymills have been allowed to continue:mad: I was crying writing this from remembering those poor puppies and how helpless I felt:( |

If no one buys from pet stores, and I mean no one buys ANYTHING (not an animal, not a toy, not a chew, not an item of clothing, not a single thing), they can not make MONEY, therefore can not stay in business. |
Heartbreaking. And those very puppies' poor little momma dog, if she lived, will be pregnant again, just as soon and often as she can conceive until death finally does give her rest from her life of NOTHING but pregnancies and a single, cramped, dirty cage. Some of these dogs never touch grass or feel the loving touch of a human hand. |

I have Lynzy to thank for opening my eyes about puppymills, after seeing all the posts about those awful places and seeing her avatar I looked deeper into the subject. In fact, for my college speech class my final was a speech on puppymills. |

You were actually the one you opened my eyes, after seeing your avatar and posts I looked into the subject and educated myself. I learned the awful truth, but I'm glad I did. I actually gave a speech on puppymills in my college speech class and sadly no one in the class knew about puppymills until after, I shocked them and made most of them cry. |
I know the pet store you are talking about & his pups Do Not come from mills BUT they do come from BYB's. |

Very sad indeed - I had tears in my eyes reading your post. I agree with yorkietalkjilly - BYBs are NO better than puppy mills - they are all in for one thing and one thing only - the almighty DOLLAR - not the betterment of the breed or the health and welfare of the animals they breed. |
I'm sorry you had to see this. When we were looking for a puppy, my father went into a horrible store that was next to his barbershop. They had the cutest little Chihuahua for sale. He called me and was very emotional. I told him to leave. :( Some very good people in our town were successful in having the store shut down. |
That is so sad |
dog They are shutting down the pet stores that have puppy mill dogs in San Diego. I wish they would shut em all down. It is very sad to see that happen to innocent little dogs. |
