Rosie has blood in her poo I am so worried my 11 week old puppy had her 2nd jab and a worming tablet 2 days ago now has diahrrea and blood in her poo.I have taken her to vets and they say she looks ok and not to worry, but i am.Shes running around and eating like normal but she is only 37 ounces and i cant help but worry :(:animal36:aimeeyork:confused: |
i would make sure she is drinking enough fluids...you can also give plain pedialite if you fear dehydration.......how much diahrrea is she having ?? |
every time she eats its going straight through her but today it has hardened a little, just speck of blood in it.Shes deffo not dehydrated as shes drinking normally and vet did check her out.Shes so tiny and i adore her,vet says im a worrying new mummy x |
Could the vet explain why she has blood in her poo? Did he think it might be the vaccinations or the dewormer? I would certainly watch for diarrhea or signs of parvo if the blood gets worse. Do you know if the rest of the litter is healthy? I agree with you that at only 1 kg, she won't have a lot of reserves. If she worsens at all, I would get her rechecked sooner rather than later. Good luck and keep us posted! |
Hope she is feeling better today! |
well im glad its firmed up a bit.. hope she continues to improve and theres nothing wrong with being a worried mum and making sure your baby is ok!! :) |
I'm very surprised that your Vet didn't do a X-Ray ! Our guys large and small, are quite prone to swallow anything they can get into their mouths. Could be from resource guarding to just did it because they wanted to. I'd definitely want to know that there wasn't anything sharp that was abrading their stomach or intestinal track. |
Did your vet take and test a stool sample? Gina had soft stool with a little blood and mucus in it when we got her, I took her last stool, time and dated it, then had my vet check it out, Gina has coccodia, and is on an antibiotic, she is responding great to it, and running around like she was never sick. Hope your baby gets better very soon. Cheers Quad:aimeeyork |
Blood in the poo is not normal and means something so if your vet is unwilling to tell you what the problem is I would go else where. |
She has been given antibiotics and her stools are now harder, checked tonight and no blood. It was a bit green so i think she eat something naughty.Vet would not test for parvo and said xray wasent needed as she was not in any pain. She is looking great tonight and im relaxing a bit more. Thanks for all your comments x will keep a close eye on her as shes very precious. |
