House Flea Treatments? Help! Ok, so I've finally decided to put Harley on advantage for flea prevention and treated his tapeworms and now I'm in the process of trying to (lol yea.. we'll see) rid my house of fleas. (Know this is totally impossible but I'm atleast going to go down fighting! :p ) But I want to use products that are safe for my pets and for my family AND effective too.. Can I have everything? I guess I'll have to see! Any tips or experience is appriciated! :D |
If you have a "feed and seed" type of store, go by there and purchase boric acid. It's a white powder, not liquid and not caustic. Sprinkle that on your carpets and brush in with a broom. This is the stuff that the companies in our area use to treat your house for fleas. The first time I had it done, a hundred years ago, I paid around $150.00 for them to do it. At the time, I asked what it was they were using and he told me....you can buy a bottle for around 5 bucks. Some people use the boric acid in their stables. It has never harmed my family or any pets. I should tell you this will totally eliminate the fleas. If you decide to try those flea bombs, if you have gas appliances, make sure your pilot lights are off. It's flamable. |

question "Sprinkle that on your carpets and brush in with a broom. " After you brush it in with the broom, do you leave it awhile then vaccum out? Seems obvious you would but thought I would ask. How long do you leave it on? |
Also used boric acid in my home with great success. I left it on while I was at work, kept all the critters out of it (just to be safe) and then vacuumed it up. |
As far as furniture goes.. What do you guys do? Bc my vet made sure I understood that when I go to rid the floor of fleas they will all scoot up underneath and on top of my furniture.. eww gross.. |
