Flea/Tick Preventative.
My puppy will be around 1.5 to 2lbs, when she comes home and maybe not even that. I was thinking of using frontline but I really don't want to put all them chemicals on that small of a dog. I've always had larger dogs and gave them trifexis and never had a problem with fleas or ticks but since she is so small its hard to trust alot of things to put on her and she is way to small for an all-in-one "pill".

Trifexis has received mixed reviews. Some dogs are fine with it, but others have a reaction. I would talk to your vet about Sentinel and other products.

I split the smallest dose of Frontline between my boys. You could use less than the whole dose on your little one and throw away the rest. Another thing to discuss with your vet.

How old is your pup going to be when you bring her home? I would be very nervous about bringing home a pup under 2 pounds, or 1.5 pounds.

Revolution is made in a size for dogs under 5 pounds, and controls fleas, dog ticks (not deer ticks), heartworms, and other types of worms. It is single ingredient, applied externally, and Bella had no problems handling it at 2.3 pounds. Now, she doesn't even bat an eye.

We use Revolution, as well. Cali is 3 lbs 14 oz

I have heard really bad stuff about Trifexis. I would suggest talking to your vet and seeing what they recommend will your pup being going outside a lot? Your pup might weigh more two weeks after they have had there last set of shots so you might want to want until then because she really shouldn't be going outside until then anyway.

She will be 12 weeks when i bring her home, she might weigh more but she is currently 1lbs at 7 weeks.

According to the growth charts, that would put her around 28 ounces (1.75 lbs) at 12 weeks. For a puppy that small, it's definitely a good idea to ask your vet, emphasizing to them how small your puppy is. It's hard to find dosages of all-in-one medications that are premade for puppies that small. I believe that's why my vet went with Revolution--it was either that, or several separate medications to cover fleas, ticks, heartworms, and deworming.

I start all my puppies out on this....and continue it with my tiny little girls, Macaela Faith and Ameila Grace. My vet will not give Trifexis to small dogs at all.

She is tiny! Glad to hear she will be staying with her breeder until 12 weeks. That gives her time to grow and for you to prepare.

I use revolution, and now my baby has fleas! He is never outside longer than going potty and i am anally clean about my house! So upset!

You might talk with your vet about using Capstar for any "break through" flea issues. I had heard earlier this year that this was going to be a bad flea summer. We use Revolution also, and I have used Capstar twice this summer in addition to the regular Revolution application.

I would not use Trifexis for one under 5 pounds. Barney had a terrible reaction to it and he was 4 pounds at the time.
