Constant Licking Bridget licks constantly on everything. And I mean everything. She licks her paws and tummy, my face, hands, feet, floor, carpet, blankets, furniture…if she’s awake she’s usually licking on something. I don’t mind her licking me at all (nothing like yorkie kisses!), but I’m wondering if the constant nature of the licking is normal. She doesn’t have any visible signs of rash or sores on her body, gets a bath/grooming regularly and got a clean bill of health on her last check-up. Any thoughts/advice out there? |
You might try giving her multi-vitamins, if you don't already, to see if that helps. Perhaps something is lacking in her diet. I know some doggies just lick everything, though. Just a thought. :) |
Ocd This seems to be OCD in some dogs..I do not think anything corrects it except medication...but it can get better from time to time..good luck. |
A) I do NOT lick everything! hahahaha (sorry, my name is spelled exactly like your puppy's name. 2) yeah, it could be diet or allergies. But it could be she is just a licky dog. Matthias is constantly licking me, nonstop. If not me, then someone else in the house. Cinamin licks her paws and carpet all the time, but not people. |
My dog licks himself alot and he has bad allergies. Does she itch? |

What is OCD?? |
Excessive paw licking is generally a sign of allergies. Does she constantly lick any other body parts (like her vulva) or just inanimate objects and you? |
She doesn't itch much and I do have her on a multi-vitamin. The licking seems to be more on her paws or she'll lay there and lick at her blanket. She doesn't seem to lick her private areas much. Should I have her checked for allergies on her next vet visit? |
You could but there is no quessing with my dog that has allergies he has hot spots that he licks and chews open areas. It just doesnt sound like hers is that bad. |
