11 month old miniature, barking all night. Help Our little girl Clover, now 11 months, sleeps downstairs in a large cage with her bed and space to go wee if she needs too. She usually sleeps through the night 11-7 no problem, but the last three nights she's barked all through the night? We even had her in bed with us on night two but that was because if me having to deal with a drunk that was in my garden (I had to drag him out and throw him in the street!) but that was on night two! Any suggestions please, she's usually so good at night, don't know what to do? |
Could you possibly move her cage closer to you at night? Maybe in your room. Maybe she is lonely? |

Maybe she isn't tired? Could you take her on an extra walk, or longer walks to see if it helps? My boys will be restless at night if they don't get enough exercise during the day. |
My little ones have always slept with me. I wonder if she is hearing things outside the other nights. Once she slept with you, I don't know if she'll ever want to go back to her cage. |
She will sleep happily on the sofa next to us in the evening. She will even jump into her bed when we say night night and reach for her bedtime treat! As soon as I close the cage she starts barking??? Had no problems over the last 11 months till now! |
I know the only way I could get Brandi to stop barking at night was just to let her sleep in bed with me. For some people though, that might not be an idea solution. |
Nope, I don't want her in bed with us! Or even in our room for that matter, just don't understand why this behaviour now when she was fine before? |

Dogs are meant to be companions and should be with there humans not in another room far away its scary. Put her bed in your bedroom. |
You know...when skin babies are around 18 months - 2 years, they can develop separation anxiety and just aren't happy unless clinging to mommy. I think this can happen to dogs too. 11 months, that may be what you are seeing right now. I think you have two choices, move him to your bedroom at night, maybe just his crate and a potty pad, or try to wait it out. TBH I think trying to wait it out will just create a neurotic puppy with poor social skills, especially if he can't be left along at all (and this could happen). Just my 2 cents. Please let us know what you decide to do and how it works for you. |
I lucked out with my 7 month old. She has slept through the night ever since a week after I got her. She sleeps in her crate. But I do have to have her in the room with me. But I dont mind that. :) |
