Thickness Of Hair When we got our new Yorkie, she was 8 weeks old. The hair on her back is so THICK. The vet said she looks like she has silky hair. Is the THICK hair unusual for a Yorkie? I realize this is her puppy coat but will it always be thick like this? |
Thickness Of Hair And Teething I forgot to add this: At the age of just 12 weeks, can she be teething? She sure is chewing on her toys a LOT! Thank God, she likes her toys!! I'm not even sure she has all her BABY teeth. How many of those should she have? She looks like she has a gap in her gums toward the back on both upper sides. She didn't eat as much this morning or yesterday. Happy New Year to all! |
pup Can you post a picture? Pups can have all types of coats, thick, thin, fluffy or sparse. She will be teething for several months..be sure to have them checked at 6 months. Kate had a mouthful pulled yesterday..two impacted molars, what a mess to sort out. I thought she had a piece of hard food in her cheek, now I know it was a BIG tooth. Good Luck |
I have a picture but don't know how to post it!*! Her hair is REALLY THICK! You really had to pay to have a lot removed then. I'll bet that was expensive! |
I just sent you a pm and can post a picture for you if you like :) My two boy pups hair was thick and now they are about nine months old and it's thinned out a lot and the hair is really silky and it hardly ever mats anymore :) Hang in there....puppy coats are kind of wierd :) |

She just looks like she has a normal puppy coat to me. The adult coat is thinner and silkier. |
She is a pretty baby! Her coat looks fine to me too. |
Thank you all for the nice comments. Of course, we think she's precious. She's the baby sister to Muffie a 10-1/2 year old Yorkie who has a modified Schnauzer cut. |
