Excellent article! Thanks for posting it!! I for one, do not separate my puppies when they are born, and give any less attention to some of the litter, because I am going to call them, "just pets". They all get the same care, the same attention, the same dedication, the same meds, the same food, etc....none of them get less, because they will be going out as "just pets". It is all the special things they get, way above and beyond what pups that are peddled out of card board boxes in a parking lot or a flea market, plus the pedigrees/building blocks of their very existance behind them, that determine my babies are not constrained from anything brilliant their future may hold for them, because they are "just pets"......None of my babies are "just pets".... |
:thumbup::thumbup: Excellent article. Thanks for sharing. |
Oh wow, when I contact breeders I always say I'm looking for a pet and not a show dog. :( Didn't think it was going to be interpreted that way; I just want one a little bigger than the 4-7 lb standard. |
excellent, just shared on my fb page as well. |
I agree with this article. Thank you for sharing the blog. |

You can learn so much |
It's a good article in that it points out that purebreds are dogs that have been genetically manipulated. (I don't mean that in some sinister way) The fact is that a purebred will not maintain it's characteristics if not bred properly. They can fall into all kinds of genetic failures if not bred properly. |
Great post!!! |
Well I guess we did good then. We were not very savvy about dogs but knew from research we wanted a yorkie. I contacted a local women who is the president of an akc show club asking for referrals as I didn't trust some of these online sites (just a feeling). She had a year old dog who she decided didn't have the aggressiveness she required for her show dogs. We met her, fell in love and purchased her for the same amount you would pay for a show dog. She is a doll, has completely come out of her shell and my kids just adore her. She will never see a show ring but let me tell you she has center stage around here... |
