Hair in Eyes Need solutions keeping Ozzy's hair out of his eyes I pull it back and clip it or a rubber band which he promptly rubs out, I have put doggie gel in, he promptly goes and messes it up. I don't want to cut his bangs but unless I can get it figured out how to keep the items in I think I'm gonna have to do the drastic!!! |
Try putting in his topknot and taking him for a walk right away, or play fetch. Anything to distract him. Make sure the topknot isn't too tight. |
I am having the same problem with Tatiana. Her hair on the top of her head is very fine. It doesn't help that when she does leave it alone....her sister goes and take the bow out! I think she is just jealous! Lol |
Lol...my lab takes the bows out of my yorkie and Shih tzu's hair. |
Thanks I'm gonna try the distraction idea, try not to let him run under the bed!! |
Which gel have you tried? The one I am using is great! |
Spike it - stud That's the name haha |

Is it people's or doggies? |
2 Attachment(s) I've been experimenting with how to pull Huey's hair back where he will leave it alone, and one of the more successful styles has been to braid it. I think because it doesn't pull like a topknot, he can ignore it. One braid lasted 3 days (a record!) and the only reason I took it down then was it was getting a little messy looking. It probably would have lasted another day or two had I left it alone. |
Ozzy's hair is quite long enough for a braid but I would like to know your secret in keeping your doggie still?! |
just keep at it and the dog will get used to being brushed and combed. |

He has always been a :littleang to groom, according to several groomers, but for me the chase was on...until I bought the table. He knows that is where he holds still. Multiple treats during grooming also help.:D |
petsilk topknot gel is good |
Cinders can get a bow out in less than 5 mins. I don't think I can help, but putting her on a table or counter top to brush her does seem to help with her wiggling. She stands still long enough to put bands in and a clip bow. Once you get the band in- gel the loose pieces to stay where you want them. A treat after helps too. Mine seems to sit for that extra 10 seconds when she sees the treat close by. That also keeps her busy enough afterward and she forgets the bow and top knot are in. |

Because this is my first Yorkie, I am very interested in this post. I got lucky and a local dog store had a groomer in the day I brought him in and cut around his eyes and especially cut the tear lines out for free. I'm in law school right now and professional grooming will probably be limited for twice a year. I want to keep it shaggy in the summer because it can be 90+ here in July and August but grow it out in the winter. I scheduled an appointment for 6 weeks for now with the same groomer because he didn't seem to mind her but do any of you keep them trimmed yourself. And if you grow out the back does it look weird to have the face short? Thanks! |
