Yappy Yorkie My Lexi is 3 months old, almosy 4. She has become very yappy. Barks at my dad walking down the hallway. Barks at almost everything. I think it has something to do with my moms 9 year old pomeranian. We live with them for the summer and our pomeranian is very yappy. Maybe shes learning from her :( I don't like it. |
Well if she is barking too much you will need to correct her. She is still a young pup so you have to mold her into the Adult dog you want. I think barking is good in a way- I wouldn't want to teach my dog barking is not allowed, but I want to teach them when the right time to bark is. When she barks to the point where she is “yappy” you need to tell her No and then when she stops reward her- I hear of people using cans with pennies with them, squirt bottle things like that, but I don’t really like those items. I think you can train them without scaring them to death or squirting water in their eyes. Just continue to work on her, she will learn- |

Feeling like a failure. I can't seem to train Lexi. Lately she's been awful at night, barking like crazy, when I tell her no she barks louder. She snaps at my face, bites me everywhere, growls at me. I'm getting so frustrated. I feel like maybe I'm just not patient enough for a puppy. She's 3 months, I'm 19. |

You can do it, don't stress out about it- trust me it will get easier!! What is she barking at when she barks at night? Do you have her sleep in your bed, crate, play pen? I know its hard, but you HAVE to be the dominant one- do not let her win!! Be strong! During the day does she get a lot of play time? The more activity her day has the more she will sleep, if you can like an hour or so before you go to bed, really play with her, tire her out. Then she should sleep well. Also when she barks you have to be stern, tell her No- if bites you, growls or does something after you have told her No, can you put her in a crate and put a blanket over it? Im not sure if she is crate trained, but I highly rec it!! Peanut was crate trained and to this day he loves his crate!! |

Do you work with her during the day? Train her how to do any commands? Peanut loves our training times. He gets that special one on one time. He loves to learn new tricks and of course get treats… I think training them to do tricks is really good- it teaches them more than just the trick you are trying to do. |
