Seems the dog's been alone at least a full day at this point so I hope there's water. Oh, the drama of YTalk! |
I would definitely call the animal control officer and report it. |
I am just now seeing this post. I would not hesitate to call the police---no matter what DH said. What's the situation now? |
I am not afraid to take any action!!! I choose 7p in case they had been home, and were now at work. I too am an "expert" at noticing things that may seem dangerous. A child was not involved. I don't know who the owner is. PLEASE reread what I posted. I've only met the child, and I don't know if she lives there, or was visiting. Just for the record, I am NOT afraid to take action!!! If you knew me, that would be a "no-brainer"! This post was for lynzy and pstinard. |
Thanks everyone. When Ian and I returned from the park, my neighbors windows were open, so someone must have come home. Glad that's over. This thread seemed to be going downhill fast. Not with all, just a couple. I wish people would read the entire transcript before becoming judgmental!! |
I think the police would have checked while they were inside that the dog had food and water, and they would have gotten AC involved if not.... Glad this ended well! Maybe they had a family emergency and had to leave abruptly.... IDK. |

OMG! My imagination would already have gone into high overdrive! I would have gone straight home, after seeing the front door open and not able to close it and the little dog coming and going at will, and called the police right then. That kind of thing doesnt happen around here......most people are scared of being robbed and doors are closed and locked.....usually have burgler bars on all windows and across the front door.....if you stumble on a front door that is ajar, and wont close and no one answers inside.....no, call the police!!!!!!!!!! Those neighbors will come home and everything but wall outlets will be gone!!!!! |
Well, I'm glad you made the call, the police did a check on the situation...and got the door closed with the yorkie at least safe inside. The owners have returned...so we can call it a wrap now. All is good with the world. |
call Please call. That is not a safe situation and I would definitely call the police and let them handle it from there. I do not like dogs running loose. That Yorkie could get hit by a car or be coyote bait. Is he eating? Is someone home to feed him? I would call. Do the right thing and call. |

Too true, people often don't read fully and make comments, you did all you could and more :) it's difficult when you don't want to cause trouble between neighbours and don't fully know the situation, I take the roll on here to take the good, kind advice and ignore the rest |

I have a funny story about being a caring neighbor. About a year ago my friend and I went over to our neigbor to return a piece of mail that had be given to us by mistake. When we got to the front door it was wide open and there was no car in the driveway and there was blood all over the front porch. We called out a coupe of times but got no answer but we heard some strange sounds from inside. We knew they had a dog and we thought maybe he was hurt. So dumb and dumber go into the house not thinking there could have a robbery going on or worse. We the dog wasn't there but we came face to face with a boa. It must have been about 15 foot long. He slithered over to block our entrance and we were stuck in the house with this snake. Thank God I had my sell phone with me so I dialed 911. Well about 2 minutes later the police arrived and about 5 minutes later our neighbors came home. We could have been in real serious trouble for breaking and entering but it turned out good. Our neighbors were hysterical laughing along with the police. They told us that they had to rush the dog to the vet because he got a nail stuck in his paw and he didn't close the latch on the snake's cage properly. |
