P-nut butter question
 
I see allot of moms give their yorkie p-nut butter but Charlie has no interest in it... is this normal? And on that same note is the protein in P-nut butter dangerous to MVD/shunt babies. Just curious :)

I think the fat content would be of concern for MVD/shunt doggies.

My boys don't do well with peanut butter. I would rather give them other things anyway.

Some dogs just don't like PB, either the taste or the consistency may bother them. Also some dogs are allergic to nuts. I'd have to check on it being okay for MVD/LS dogs..

Smart boy. :) I don't have first-hand experience with MVD, but I would be very strict with diet.

It isn't necessarily bad, but it is high in fat, and may contain a lot of salt and sugar depending on the brand. Some dogs may be allergic to it too.

A tiny bit gave Max diarrhea, so I never used it again.

Well to be honest when Im thinking protein I am thinking MEAT and I was making myself a sandwich the other days and noticed the "protein" on the ingredient label and I thought to myself hmmmmm.. I knew YT would have the answer LOL

I use it to give pills sometimes. Huey loves pb, as long as it is not around a pill.:rolleyes:

I think it's just an individual taste thing, although I wouldn't give it to Charlie, with MVD issues.

I give both of mine little licks off of my finger tip occassionaly (just last night, actually). They never get too much, though. As mentioned, it is high fat.

I was going to stuff a Kong toy with some...when I took the lid off the half used jar (Jiff, creamy) it had about 2 tablespoonfuls of flat out oil, floating on the top of the peanut butter.........when I saw that, all I could think of for my dog, was DIARRHEA!!!!!! So, I do not give it to my dogs.

I use fat free cream cheese for pills;) The vet suggested it bc Daisy eats the pill pocket and spits out the pill. lol

LOL, I use regular cheese for Charlies pills he doesnt get bothered by the dairy so its a good food for him for snacks.
