My puppy doesn't like treats! My Yokie Nina is 14 weeks almost 15 and I have tried different kind of treats to use for training her but she doesn't like any of them. Is this strange? My previous Yorkie I had for 15 years would do almost anything for a treat. How can I train her if I there is no treat for incentive? I do a lot of praise but not as good as a treat.:aimeeyork |

Have you tried cheerios or pieces of boiled chicken |
I have Wellness Puppy Treats and sometimes, she will eat a little piece but she is not very interested in it. I have tried also cheerios and she will not even lick it. I will try some small veggies like carrots. She is very tiny (1.3lbs) and the treats have to be tiny. I cut them really small, is the only way she will even lick them. She also doesn't want to eat dry food. Very picky! I try mixing it and she eats around the dry kibble. I feed her Wellness Puppy food.:( |
Draco isn't picky thankfully. But my pomeranian was very picky. He did like jerky though. Never found a dog biscut/cookie that he liked. They were always kind meat treats like Pupperoni or Vitality. |
Mina is 2yrs and isnt crazy about dog treats. All of mine get a BlueBuffalo cookie every day,she takes it from me with a look of "well if this is all you are handing out then I guess I can eat it". She prefers carrots and goes crazy for broccoli. |
Lots of people here use green beans, I tried them with Alfie and he loves them straight out of the freezer |

Oh I know the feeling! I've gotten sooo many treats for Bentley and he just wont touch them. He doesnt like biscuit/cookies either. He likes Cheerios and boiled chicken. I just got a bag of Blue Buffalo Wilderness Chicken Jerky and he LOVES it!! Just keep trying, you'll find something he likes :) |
I had to laugh when I saw this thread. Gracie won't eat dog treats either. Of course I wouldn't buy most of what is sold in grocery and pet stores these days. Gracie's groomer always tries to giver her a treat when she is done and Gracie always spits them out!:) She has been on a high quality commercial raw diet for the past 2 years. The only treats she gets are usually dehydrated raw meat or sweet potato treats that I either make myself or order special for her. She thinks those other things are poison I guess. |

He absolutely hates 'treats' - to him they're not a treat, they're something to be sneered at.... Therefore I learnt to 'train and treat' with a toy instead - he'd do ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING for a Kong squeaky tennis ball....he'll still come, or do whatever, immediately when I squeak that ball....even though he's got another 5 in his toy-basket of his very own without all the effort.... :D Sally + Harry x |
My pup only trains for pieces of cheese or boiled chicken turns his nose up at anything else. I usually cut out his lunch and just fed breakfast and dinner. |
Our dogs love frozen green beans. I just started dehydrating chicken and beef to make jerky for them. They love beggin strips. |
