So frustrated! My family is frustrating me. I'm 19 and got my yorkie lexi april 20th. She is 3 months old. She pees on her paper more than she doesn't and she occasionally poops on it but mostly poops on the floor. My mom and step dad are so mean to her, saying she's not doing good, and getting really mad that she pees on the floor occasionally. I think she's doing great! She always goes on the pad, except maybe twice a day. I'm trying to get her to start going outside though. I brought her pad to the door and she has been going on it. When I bring her outside she wont go, she just plays. Having a really hard time. I'm moving out September first. On the bright side, I'm taking her for her first hair cut next week! I don't know cut to get! Decisions decisions.... |
Make sure she has had all her puppy shots for two weeks before taking her to a groomer. Have you put her poo on the pad? Also might help to put her pad outside when you want her to go outside. Make sure you praise her and give her a treat when she goes in the right place. Also make sure your parents never yell at her, hit her or rub her nose in it. |

I used some pheromone spray outside when mine was a baby. She sniffed at it a lot, and peed in the right grass a few times, but mostly she played. Keep taking her out, she'll get the hang of it. |
I agree she will get the hang of it, just takes some time. It is best if you know her poo schedule. With Peanut I know when he poops. If you knew when about she needs to poop you can then take her out and more than likely have success She needs to have all her shots because groomers have tons of dogs that come and go- you do not know those dogs, and you don’t know what they have. Usually groomers won’t allow a dog to come in without being fully vaccinated ( at least my groomer wont) bordetella is very contagious- very common at the groomer. If she isn't fully vaccinated, I would wait until she is. |

Puppy is still only 3 months old so keep up with the toilet training outside. It will take some time but giving her lots of praise when she does will help. I also have a 3 month old and I take her outside as soon as she wakes up from her naps, after eating and playing. You will soon learn the signs of when she needs to go so just be patient and it will pay off. As to the groomer, please don't take her until 2 weeks after her final shots, it's not worth it if she catches something and gets ill. This is a great time in your puppy's life as they grow up so quick, enjoy it and have lots of fun together :-) |
Louie was 12 weeks old when I got him and had never been outside. It took him almost 2 weeks of taking him out every hour or so before he finally used it outside.. She'll get the hang of it. Just takes time. Genea |
