Car sick Yorkie I have a question! I go on short trips, (3 hrs.), or even into town 1/2 hr. and always take my Yorkie, Yoshi,, and my Cavalier, Trig with me. Trig settles right down in the back seat and sleeps. Yoshi on the other hand can't seem to settle. He's up on the seat, tries to get on my shoulder, tries to get by my feet, up and down. I think he might be car sick, but never throws up. He yawns and yawns. Is there something I can do or give to him to settle him down. He's not enjoying our travels at all this way. Anyone else have this happen? Is it common to the breed? Any suggestions are welcome! Annie |
Hi Annie - first, WELCOME to YT :)! You could try melatonin (helps for anxiety in dogs), and/or benadryl (could make them sleepy and calmer). Of course, you can run both of those by your vet who I'm sure is very familiar with both. Another option is the ThunderShirt - have you heard of it? There are lots of threads here about it and people have had great luck with it. |
Zach our Yorkie gets very car sick if you put him in the back of the car. He's okay if he sits on your lap so most of the time my friend goes with me if we have to take Zach with us. |
Theres also a presciption of Cerenia the vet may be about to give you. |
