Zach went to a new home this weekend. Zach came to me in early march from a local vet. He was hit by a car and his leg broken. When they found the owners they decided it was cheaper to get a new dog than have his leg repaired. They told the vet to find him a home or he could put him to sleep. Luckily the techs put the word out to various rescues and we took him in and were able to have him repaired. Now this weekend after almost 4 months he was adopted to a new home. Even with a house full of dogs it still feels empty. I feel like I need to get him back. He looked at me like What is happening to me when he was carried away. Maybe because we spent so much time together during his surgeries but him leaving is so much harder than my other fosters that were adopted. I'd post a photo of Zach but I'm using the work computer and I'd like to keep my job. |
I'm sorry you are missing Zach so much! It's so hard to let go of the fosters that really touch us. Just remember that you saved him & helped him move on to a new forever home. Now you have room for another furbaby who needs you! |
Oh your story breaks my heart. Thanks for rescuing this baby! I would have a house full of pets too if I did that. |
Thank you so much for showing Zach what love and committment means. I know your heart is breaking, but please know what a godsend that you are for nursing Zach back to help and for your love and devotion to him. |
I sooo feel for you. It is so hard to let them go after you have fought so hard for their lives. I think, in the end, it is harder on us than on them, as they gain a new loving home and the one we gave them just seems empty without them. Hopefully, the new owners will let you know how Zach is doing...pix would be nice...and you'll feel better once you know he's happy with his new human parents. In the meantime, sending you lots of hugs... |
I know I would never be good at fostering dogs. I could never give them up. I couldn't even give up our birds with our cockatiels laid eggs which is why we ended up with 12 birds. We also ended up with 7 guinea pigs. Thank God our dogs are fixed or God knows what would have happened to us. Well anyway Bless you for taking such good care of Zach. By the way Zach is the name of our yorkie also. Just take satisfaction in knowing Zach is going to have a good life thanks to you. |
