Do I really have a full bred yorkie? 1 Attachment(s) Hi everyone, I know I may sound really dumb about this whole thing and honestly I don't care. I am just really concerned that I may not have a full bred yorkie. I mean he just doesn't look like one to me. His nose is longer... or snout, his legs are longer.... sometimes he just looks more like a silky to me than a yorkie. Now I don't care if you guys come back and yell at me for asking or saying this, but I'm just really paranoid that maybe I had got ripped off. I'm hoping I didn't but please help me out and tell me otherwise if I am wrong. Thanks. Janice |
How old is he? He is a cutie.... I wouldn't know about confirming breed, not a pro, but looks like one to me |
Don't worry, I'm not gonna bite your head off...and I don't think anyone else should either. From looking at the picture, I see all yorkie. go ahead and look at the photo gallery and more posts to see that there are tons of yorkie owners on here with beautiful pups that look just like yours! I love his floppy ears (yes yorkies can have floppy ears) and he looks so cute! the longer snout is actually preferred by some yorkie owners. I think he's very handsome! |
Thanks! He's I believe 4 going on 5 Months. |
Really? (about the longer snout) I've always seen most Yorkie owners to have the shorter snout. I guess I'm just so paranoid cause after I had initially sent payment for my pup the lady I had bought him from really just started dicking me around (excuse my language) which made me even more paranoid. And the ears thing. I always thought they were suppose to be up.... only cause all of the ones that I have seen are up. I just recently started working for banfield the pet hospital in my city and everytime I see one they don't look anything like mine, which makes me worry even more. Thanks though for letting me know. |
He looks yorkie to me. Although, I must admit I don't really see much difference in a silky and a yorkie. His ears may still go up if you trim the fur to get the weight off them. He is really cute just as he is though. |
He is adorable!! Very handsome! Looks all yorkie to me! A lot of yorkies have different body shapes. I think this breed is so interesting because in some other breeds you could get an exact replica of your dog, but with this one they're all so different! He sure is a cutie! I love the floppy ears, my dog has them too! :p |
He definitely looks like a Yorkie to me! He may look a little different than some of the Yorkies you see on here, who have ears that stand straight up. If you imagine them standing, he really doesn't look out of place! He is such a cutie! |
Certainly looks like a Yorkie to me - and a beautiful one at that! I think if you got his ears up - you would see "all Yorkie!" Ears down are darling too....but I do think they take a little away from the "Yorkie look." Have to tell you again - you have a beautiful pup! Carol Jean |
He is absolutely full Yorkie. I think he is adorable! Take a look around this site and you will see many different looks. Sue :) |
What a handsome YORKIE!! 1 Attachment(s) Yes, you have yourself a purebred, I would bet! He's very beautiful, and you should be proud! I would be. My little girl does not look like a "purebred" either. I think what we have here, you and I, are pups that are not quite what they call "standard", but that's OK! Do you see humans that look like photo copies of each other? LOL, no way!! (Of course, most of us are mutts, anyhow, lol) I would love my little girl if she were 20 pounds with curly ears and a long tail. She is my shining light. I am sure your baby is that to you. Enjoy! |
HE IS totally CUTE !! I love his little face - he looks like a real sweetie and if you love him - then I wouldn't worry about the questions you have - One thing I think applies to silkies is they're bodies are a bit more stout with shorter legs than a yorkie so you probably really DO have a yorkie - they just happen to come in a varity of looks and all are just darling Found this on a website: The Yorky should not weigh more than 7 pounds, however most pet quality Yorkies are as big as the Silky, and they have a thick coat that drops right to the ground. Yorkies have a shorter muzzle, larger eyes and a domed head. The Silky head is more solid with small eyes and flatter skull. The Yorky’s color must be a dark gray with rich tan. The Silky may be almost any shade of gray with tan legs and silver or fawn topknot. An adult Silky will occasionally "Brown out" the coat will become a Champagne or tan color This doesn't happen very often and there is no way of knowing what puppies will change . The Yorky topknot is always put up in a bow, the Silky is not. The Yorky is more common with an average of 68,000 litters and 137.000 dogs registered annually as compared with 1200 Silky litters and 2100 dogs. With the heavy over breeding of the Yorky they have more genetic problems and fewer quality breeders. The Yorky has a true "toy dog" temperament the Silky more of a low keyed Terrier temperament |
puppy Whether you got ripped off depends on the price. It depends on the breeder and what you were told also...some breeders aren't too careful about what they use for breeding stock..so many Yorkies are not quite what the buyer thought they were buying. I hope you enjoy your pet..sounds like you do and he is lucky to have you. |
looks like a yorkie to me too.. what ever he is he is gorgeous.... what coloring? lucky you.. |
Janice .I think shes a beautiful puppy ,I see Yorkie all over her cutness ..enjoy .. |
