still trying to convince people that Monty IS a yorkie!! I admit that my Monty is quite a bit oversized (at 15 lbs) and his ears do not stand up, he has a curly coat and his body length is quite long for a yorkie oh and since he was purchased in the UK his tail was not docked but he has every personality trait of a yorkie and I have seen a bunch of yorkie pics on here that resemble him quite nicely. I am so tired of people looking at me like I have two heads when they ask me what breed he is and I say yorkie. I am not going to breed him or anything and yes he is not the epitome of what a text book yorkie looks like but he definitely does look and act like a yorkie (well maybe more Australian Silky?). Am I the crazy one??? Doesn't matter to me, everyone here has said he looks like a yorkie to them but I really wish people would just stop asking me or believe me when I tell them his breed...lol I couldn't care less if he was a 'true' yorkie, does not change how I feel about him one little bit...yes he is a bit more yorkie than I had envisioned but there is just more of him to love <3 |
who cares what people say.......you dont have to prove anything to anyone and really i think it better you just say rotweiler from now on...then they will really have something to discuss. hehe. ;) |
That is the funniest thing EVER, I used to say his coloring looked like a Rottweiler when he was a tiny puppy!! |
I just took a look at this photos and he looks like a Yorkie to me! His photo after his haircut looks just like my Bella, only larger. He's a big cutie! :) |
I agree with Rubymoon2072 :) Don't worry about what they think, what matters is that you love him :D My Rufus is big and has a curly coat, even my vet still doubts he is one! But I love him no matter what :) |
The cool thing is that most of the people that give me the wrinkle-nose-I-just-sucked-a-lemon face are not even yorkie owners! So it isn't like I am insulting their dog's breed by trying to throw him into a group that he obviously wouldn't be accepted in. I am simply telling them what I bought. People are funny...and we wonder why people are being continually judged...heck they even judge wee dogs!! :) All posts have been posted tongue in cheek and not meant to be at all serious (just in case) |

Love it! |
I have the same problem with Joel because his curly hair, I don't even care anymore! lol |
Same for me with Sasha because of her coloring. I know the truth so whatever! :p |
Train Monty to poo on their shoe, rude people |
Okay, so I am taking a culmination of suggestions...I am going to tell them he is a Rottweiler/pitbull/terrier mix that will poo in their shoe if they insult him. Done deal!!! |
Monty is adorable, and doesn't look overweight, he's just a"super-sized" Yorkie. How old is Monty? So you have twice as much to love, and he definitely looks happy, hearty, and healthy. |
Monty turned 1 on May 18,2013 (yes there was a party lol). He is a spoiled, loved, mostly well-behaved fur baby!! He brings me a great amount of joy and I love him to death. His body is very long for a yorkie (they are typically more squared from what I have seen here) and I believe that is where a lot of his extra weight comes from, plus he is taller too, he is most definitely NOT fat. My vet actually recommended that I enroll him in agility training as his build is so athletic. This dog can jump like nothing I have ever seen...he has springs on his feet I think :) He does need to work a bit on his aggressive attitude which I believe comes from being spoiled (bad mommy) :) |
He reminds me of member "Brister" dog Jackson. Similar build and very energetic. Did you see this thread recently about agility? http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/agi...ty-course.html |
OM Gosh I am truly inspired after watching that video!!!! Time to get motivated and get him signed up to see if he's even capable of this!!! |

I don't get why someone would ask you what he is and then tell you he's not. Thats so weird to me! I never run into people like that, thankfully! |
This seems to be a trend with all yorkies if you ask me.... maybe just tell them something off the wall... :) |
People can be mean for sure. Callie is 16 pounds and when asked what she is I automatically say a bigger yorkie luckily I haven't really gotten nasty comments but I have heard others who have. Its like people have forgotten there manners or have not been raised right. |
I love this site!! I actually thought it would be more kennel club type people looking down their noses at those yorkies that did not meet the text book definition and I am so pleasantly surprised to find an amazing group of people that accept every size, shape and color of yorkie that exists!! GREAT JOB on this community!!! |

We are all glad to have you:) & Monty too! |
Please no offense meant to anyone here who is a kennel club member!! I would never insult anyone who wishes to stick to the standard of the breed and promote good breeders etc. Sometimes though we don't always get the 'perfect' specimen and we have to accept them and love them all the same :) |

While we may differ on some issues, one thing we do have in common here is that we LOVE LOVE LOVE our doggies. At the core, that is the most important thing to remember. |
I can definitely relate! Max just turned 3 and it seems that he never stops growing! He's probably about 16 pounds now. When people ask what he is I say he's a Yorkzilla. |

You know this is an old story. Most of us have been insulted, disbelieved, snickered at or some one has been rude to us. The world has good and ucky people. Your dog is a darling. I think a good way is to get them, before they get you. Nosey Person:" What kind of dog is that ?" your answer : A Teapot Yorkie. NP: "What I never heard of that!" You smiling, Check them out on www.yorkietalk .com, I am so blessed to have one, he's very special, each one is unique. NP:" Sure is cute, I will look them up." You :D |
Monte is adorable. I agree. Say he is a rottie or Doberman or pit... but do it with a straight face...:lol tears |
My Sushi is quite big next to his lil yorkie friends so it´s nice to hear of other bigger yorkies! He´s not 15 pounds, but he´s tall and also has his long tail. I love that he´s bigger though because I´m tall and from up where I am he looks so tiny! |
