my little meatball how can i tell if lexi is overweight.?..she seem s alittle round to me... last time she was weighed at 6lbs when she got spayed at 7 months. now she is 9 months and i put her on my brothers scale yesterday and i think it was around 8 pounds or alittle more...her measurement are like 11 or 12 inches from her neck to her tail.. any one know? |
How tall is she?? My Bell weighs 8lbs and is tall around 11 inches. She is far from fat. Can you feel her bones, ribs, hips?? if you can feel any other these things she isn't overweight. |
she's not boney at all, she just looks alot meatier than alot of other yorkies i have seen. i mean she looks real healthy to me...when i get home tonight, what do i have to feel for to know? |
Feel her hips, on the top, feel her ribs, My Lilly is a little butterball, but she is only 6 1/2 months old and I feel she will slim down. And if she doesn't I will give her less food. I think your girl is just tall like my Bell, I wouldn't worry.. |
i measured her last nite, she is still the same... neck 8", chest 13" and length from neck to tail is 12"... what do you think? tried to feel her ribs, no deal..cant feel them... |

thanks villette, im gonna try the green beans, and intead of a bone treat, im gonna try, a piece of apple or carrot. is that ok? my mom checks on her during the day , and i know she leaves her a few treats before she leaves. and me, before i leave, i leave her her kong with peanut butter and and bone treat. and she also gets a treat after she eats in the morning after i wipe her face. she look forward to it... then when i get home, she eats at 530 and i wipe her face again , another treat, and i brush her, 5 more treats.. and a bully stick... am i nuts or what?. i dont want a fat yorkie...i want her healthy. |
I think she's getting her fair share of treats - I would try to cut one out and slowley try to subtract some of them - but not all at once.... cause she'll really know she's missing out - they're WAY too smart - Chanel always HAS to have not ONE....but TWO treats at night - she counts. |

villette, since i have no children, she does anything for me.. well she does it anyway... she just adores lexi and she knows how i feel about her.. me and mom are very close. i just cry for no reason sometimes thinking what i would do without her.... oh dont let me start thinking.... ill cry right here. my mom is my whole life.... anyway, mom spoils me to no end and i do the same for her.. ok no more talking about mom, i feel it coming on... |

Maybe Lexi needs a boyfriend :D . You know how us gals lose weight when we fall in love. I volunteer Nikko as her boyfriend. ;) He thinks Lexi is a total babe and he doesn't mind a chunky girl... LOL ;) |

I know it is hard when you see their sweet little faces not to give them a treat. I give Nikko treats for merely breathing!! :) I haven't had him neutered yet but they say they tend to gain weight after they are fixed. I am sure when the weather gets warmer you will take Lexi for walks and she will start to lose weight. But like someone else said, if she was really in some danger your vet would have let you know. So don't worry so much and keep being the great and devoted mommy you are. :) And if all else fails, we can keep blaming grandma. ;) (j/k) |
