I know exactly what you meant Gabby, it wasn't at all confusing... someone was having a bad day I guess. There are several Yorkie people here that know tons!!! .... and are easy to talk with. Maybe just take a few minutes and you will soon see which ones are approachable for the newbies...

I would love to have you stay along with the others but as we've all mentioned, it was a big MISUNDERSTANDING and MISCOMMUNICATION. We've all apologized for anything we've said that could've potentially come off as attacking. There's not much more we can do or say aside from sorry. I'm not going to beg you to stay but if you'd like to stay we would love to have you.

I don't believe they were having a bad day. Clearly "mentor" has more than one meaning. Nancy1999 and lynzy420 are very approachable members. I wouldn't necessarily cross them off of your list over a miscommunication...

It sounded to me like you wanted one all-wise oracle who is the owner of all yorkie knowledge....

Now see???? This kind of sounds like you are going off, preturbed, because you are feeling mistreated. You need to get over it, and ask your questions ....you keep talking about questions you want to ask....you have never even given us a chance to help you!!!...if you do not want to have your questions answered, so be it! I only feel bad because you never gave any of us a chance to answer your questions....there again, so be it!

This is just a big miscommunication as has been stated. Nancy especially goes out of her way to help new people. Lynzy is the comedian around here. I really believe neither meant any harm. That doesn't change that the op is upset but people have appologized I hope she can forgive them

I completely understand why she would be upset but we have all apologized (which I was on her side the whole time so i'm not quite sure what i did wrong) and i thought i did a pretty good job at explaining that the mentor that Nancy was thinking is completely different from a common knowledge mentor. I get that she's upset but i now feel as if she is just feeding into our sorrows and blowing this out of proportion.

So take a deep breath and ask your questions, nobody is picking on you, or putting you down for being new. The more you use YT the better you will know where, when and who to ask. Several members on here should be nominated for Yorkie sainthood, their advice is awesome.

:thumbup: Hopefully we can all take a breath and start over. It does happen in life as well as here...just miscommunication. Hopefully, it won't continue to be that way but we are here to help if help is still wanted :)

I don't think I've seen you around here before. I see you are a newer member so welcome! Yes, you may have understood exactly what the OP was saying but I hope that you can take the chance to see where Nancy is coming from...Nancy is a breeder so when she hears "mentor" she doesn't think of a mentor as what those with no breeding knowledge think of a mentor as. I do hope that you understand this and can see that all of our members here are very approachable seeing as we all have one very important thing in common...our furbabies health and happiness.

That was very nice of you! There's nothing more that can be done. I don't believe that this issue was even really this serious. It didn't need to go this far. It truly was a miscommunication and I know you weren't intentionally trying to hurt her feelings.

No, I'm not a breeder, but I've been reading the breeding forum for several years and I've gotten to know some of the breeders here and have learned some of the terminology. I still don't say things like bitch and sire, I say the puppy’s parents. :p I've always thought of the word mentor connected with some profession and on a dog forum the only profession is breeding.

yes, I love this site and yes I am new, but only to Yorkies. I am a retired breeder of french bulldogs.... "in dogs" since 1981.... showing, breeding, prof. grooming, kindergarten puppy trainer.... whenever I get a question from someone I don't know at all, I assume "newbies" and they are unaware of terminology... any terminology.... I hope she isn't gone...."mentors" are very important to the unknowledgable.
