Just wanted,to say hi and welcome. Brighton is a beautiful little darling. I don't have much advice, you seem pretty set and well organised. The only other thing I would suggest you have on hand is a feeding syringe, like the ones you get in children's medicine. Just in case she feels a little off and isn't drinking as much as you would like. Oh and also a few towels for when it is bath time, they seem to love to rub themselves dry on upholstery so better to have it covered. And then just loads of love, cuddles and playtime.

I, too, am partial to Biewers and will be getting one very very soon (hey Verbena -thanks for all the advice:p.) When my yorkie was a baby, I kept her out of the grass until she had all her shots.

With respect to the surrounding kids, be careful with your Biewer baby. When we first got our Lucy, last June, I'd take her to my kids' school when I picked them up at the end of the day. ALL the kids wanted to touch, pet, hold the puppy. I didn't permit that - but there was always a circle of kids around me reaching their hands out to touch my new baby's face. It was difficult to control. There was a girl with special needs who just followed me around very closely and would try to grab Lucy's head. I had to swaddle Lucy very closely for her own protection. It was no fun. I stopped bringing Lucy with me.

My Lucy is a sweet sweet yorkie. She doesn't dislike kids -- but she is very cautious around them. She doesn't like anyone she doesn't know to reach out hands toward her face. She doesn't snap or anything, she just moves away quickly. I really can't blame her. How would you like 10 or 20 hands reaching out and suddenly grabbing your head or cheek?? It's truly an invasion of personal space, IMHO.

So, the unusual environment involving a lot of children - who are naturally attracted to an adorable little puppy - may have an impact on your pup.

Also, I've always used a buddy belt. I went to a big chain pet store and got her tag info put on a little metal tag that can be affixed to the buddy belt directly. So there's no need to have anything else attached to the belt.

I agree 100% I know exactly what the kids will do. Every time a parent comes in to sign a student out during my after care program and they bring in a dog or puppy it's like a mad dash of kids. I am constantly getting on them to get back! I will not even let the kids know that she is there. I don't want to traumatize her that's for sure! Thanks so much for the good advice :)

How exciting! It sounds like you are prepared. I definitely think bringing her is a better idea than leaving her at home.

I am a teacher too, what grade do you teach? It's great that you will be able to take her this summer :)

I teach physical education...k-5. My office is in the back of the school Which gives me easy access to getting her outside! Thank you for your thoughts :) The atmosphere is very relaxed during the summer...my main worry was confusing her because everything I read says go out the same door and to the same spot every time.
