Favorite Food for Your Yorkie?? What food brands do you prefer for your Yorkie?? |
You will get a lot of different answers to this question. I say to go with what works and what the pup will eat. I had to go grain free and I trust Blue Buffalo, so that is what Mandie gets. She loves it. |
I too feed Blue Buffalo. No problems with it at all. :) |
We started Princess Sophie on Canine Caviar's Puppy food because CC is known to be great for dogs with allergies and is grain free. Even though we knew we didn't have to worry about allergies for quite a while, it's really just a great food. A bit more expensive and only available online but we are very happy with it! Sophie likes it too and that always helps. I have also heard great things about Blue Buffalo but someone else will need to speak for that. Good luck!! |
Bella started off on Royal Canin because of its smaller kibble size, but now she's eating Blue Buffalo--she loves it and is not having any health issues with it. |
I've heard nothing but great things about Blue Buffalo and Royal Canin. Guess I need to do some research on both! |
There's a thread where you can email companies and get some samples (some free) to try. The list is in the Heath and diet section. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...e-samples.html I have a very picky eater. She tried a ton of things, but she settled on Chicken soup for the puppy lovers soul, and holistic tiny bites for kibble, but we use merricks grain free wet food on top the kibble. I think we tried maybe 10 kibbles before we found some she liked. Oh, and whatever she likes to eat 1 day can be something she refuses to eat the next. LOL! I keep a variety of the wet food to mix it up for her( give her a change)- and freeze what's in a can for use like a week or 2 later. (I freeze 1/2 a can if she's refusing to eat it, it saves us a little money that way) |
My favorite is whatever my picky little monster will eat. Right now he is on Royal Canin Yorkie Puppy kibble. He gets the Royal Canin puppy canned or Hill's Ideal Balance puppy canned for breakfast, and RC kibble free fed. After his neuter, I'm thinking of trying the Blue Buffalo. I think this is like the sixth food or combination I have tried, and so far it works. |

Thanks for the tips! I've heard that once your dog has wet food they boycott the dry. |

My dog is very picky and never really liked dog food much so I would have to hand feed her twice a day well I tried Now Small Breed and she loves it so much and she has never loved a food and she will eat it on her own a lot. If you are wanting to change your pups food after getting them you should wait a couple months and let them get used to things first and then slowly switch to a different food. Its very important to research a company, look at the ingredients, and see how your dog does on it. I personally would never ever buy or use a Purina food because Purina is the makers of the waggin train chicken jerky the killed hundreds of pets and made many many sick and it took them years to pull it even thought they knew it was doing that. Purina also has a food called Beniful that has been linked to a few dogs deaths and some sick dogs. |
I feed Blue Buffalo (the puppy version) to my Toby. He eats the wet food and the kibble although I do still mix the BB kibble with Kirkland brand (from Costco) kibble because that is what the breeder had him on. He also was originally on Nutro wet food and he loved it, but I like the Blue Buffalo better and was able to transition him. |
