Gilbert's first haircut I'm soo nervous I made an appointment at petsmart to get him a puppy trim. his hair is not super long but his poop has been getting.stuck on him so they will have to shace that area. but what scares me is that they said it will take 3 -4 hours... has anyone had any experience with the grooming salon at petsmart? |
My sister used to get her yorkie groomed there and she was satisfied with them...her yorkie was kept in a puppy cut and her groomers did a great job. There are some good groomers at Petsmart and some not-so-good ones, just like many places out there. I will just say that I think they charge too much for the services that they offer, given the experience levels (or lack of) there. I also don't like that they keep your dog for 4 hours...much of that time is them just sitting alone in cage with all of these loud sounds and action going on around them. And at least at the Petsmarts near me, they often seemed understaffed, which makes me uncomfortable. I have witnessed groomers attempting to work on a dog by themselves when they clearly need additional help for safety purposes. Not sure how Petsmart does a la carte pricing but I know that the groomer I take Toki to will just do the sanitary area if that's the only thing you want done...it's cheaper and doesn't take nearly as long as a full groom. I'm not trying to dog on Petsmart grooming! I get Toki's nails trimmed there and I know several people who have had pleasant experiences with them. I guess I'm just kinda picky and obsessive lol...I want a groomer that I know will deliver exactly what I ask for and that doesn't mind you watching your pup get groomed and also one that isn't trying to cram as many dogs as possible into their daily schedule. I've seen many puppies getting groomed at Petsmart and the employees there have always been very gentle and patient (from what I can see through the window or at the desk). The most important thing is that you speak with your groomer and that you trust them to deliver the what you are expecting and to know that they will make your pup's first grooming experience a pleasant one. Hopefully others will be able to share their experiences! |
I am hoping that this will go well. we are getting the puppy trim and since its his first time its $15.99. so hopefully they stay true to the price. he needs his nails trim and the hair around his face is getting a bit long so that needs to be trimmed.my husband left me specific instructions on what to tell the groomer. :animal-pa |

I have taken Molly to Petsmart for the puppy trim and it is $15.99 but they do ask if you want to add things on like nail grinding for $11 more. But that's your choice to say yes or no. If you just stick with the trim it is $15.99. |
First you need to post a before and then an after pic!! I have never used them. Just make sure you tell them ( and they understand) how you want him cut. I bought clippers at Walmart- they were cheap like 30$. I use them to trim Peanut’s bum and pee area. Since I have a male when his hair grows down under his belly, it starts to smell when pee gets on there. So in between grooms I will clean up his areas!! Just FYI :D |

The first cut for Magnus was at Petsmart. They did a good job and I ended up paying little more b/c I added the grinding and ear cleaning I think. But if I didn't, I would've paid 15.99. I take Magnus and Zoey for "professional cuts" maybe once or twice a year. But not petsmart. I was happy with the cut itself but I didn't like that I had to leave him there for 6-8 hrs. All the other times, I cut them myself at home. The only thing I don't do are the nails. I'm paranoid I'll hurt them. It's not so much a money issue.. it's more that I don't like them being crated for however long until it's their turn and then being returned to the crate till I come pick them up. I think quite a few parents here does it at home for same/similar reasons. Won't look as good as being done by professionals but serves the purpose. Also, you actually do get better as time goes. :) |

How did Gilbert's haircut turn out? Please post pics! Bella's haircut turned out great, and I'm going to post pictures on her thread soon! |
1 Attachment(s) Gilbert is home. his appointment only took about an hour & 1/2. he did very well, the.only thing was that around his bottom its really red from were his poop was stuck :( but other than that I am so happy. we ask them just to trim around his face and paws and his bottom. but here he is my Gilbert before and after! I am very pleased with Ashley the girl who groomed him. |

Gilbert looks super cute! I took my Morkie puppy to Petsmart for the $15.99 puppy grooming and they did a great job. They trimmed his face, his paws, and the "sani area" as they called it. They also bathed him, plucked his ear hair, and trimmed his nails. I was really pleased with the experience--and loved getting a puppy report card after his appointment. Like you, they scheduled his appointment for 3 hours but it really took about 1.5 hours--they called me on my cell phone as soon as he was done. |
