Help Stop Puppy Mills Happy Hump Day Everyone....:D if you havent seen this petition just thought you might like to sign it. Have a good day. :) Sometimes they don't even give the dogs water. Puppy mills are factories -- cruel commercial breeding facilities that churn out puppies for profit, failing to give them even routine veterinary care. Hundreds of thousands of people unwittingly buy puppy mill dogs every year -- all while three to four million "unwanted" dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters. Until every dog in need has a loving family, we're leading the fight against puppy mills. Please join our fight by asking your legislators to support and co-sponsor the Puppy Uniform Protection and Safety (PUPS) Act, S. 395/H.R. 847. In the past five years alone, The Humane Society of the United States has helped pass more than 35 new state laws to protect dogs in puppy mills. We've assisted law enforcement in shutting down more than 50 puppy mills, and our Animal Rescue Team has rescued nearly 10,000 dogs from these cruel mass-breeding facilities, including more than 100 from a Tylertown, Mississippi puppy mill on May 20. Fortunately, legislation to crack down on puppy mills has been reintroduced in Congress. The PUPS Act, S. 395/H.R. 847, will close a loophole in the Animal Welfare Act regulations that currently allows puppy mills to sell dogs over the Internet without any oversight or standards of care. |
I have already signed on with this one. I hope you get many YT people to do the same. Thanks for posting. |
1 Attachment(s) I signed it too and hopefully something will be done to stop them soon. My baby is a puppy mill survivor and it broke my heart to see how terrified he was of everything and everybody, he spent over 7 years locked in a cage, had hardly any teeth left and had been debarked. I've had him for 3 months now and even though he is starting to trust me, he still runs if I walk towards him. Nobody should be able to do that to any dog  I also hope people will stop buying dogs from pet stores as puppy mills are where they get their dogs. |
Yep, I received an email from another Petition organization and signed it, too. I'm hoping those who haven't already signed it will. :) |

This is such a wonderful thread. I can't sign because I don't live in the USA, but you have all my support |
I really want this bill to pass, but so many people are against it. Commercial breeders have sent out so much misinformation that even good breeder think this will affect them. This is the most important animal legislation out there in my opinion and it will help close down thousands of puppy mills. Right now the law says if you sell directly to public even if you breed hundreds of dogs a year, you don’t need a license of any inspections. With the advent of the internet, commercial breeders don’t sell to pet stores they sell directly to public, and so all these wonderful state laws we’ve passed for commercial breeders don’t apply to them. Let’s close this gap, if you love your dog, you should help protect the breeding dogs. |

AKC has fought as hard as the mills to stop all legislation that would put restrictions on the puppy mills. I have been really disappointed in their attitude. If a "professional breeder" is doing a good job of breeding they should have no problem with this legislation. If AKC feels this would hurt good breeders then they need help craft a bill that will be more acceptable to them or is it that they just don't want any legislation at all? |
