Dry skin Enzo just came home from the groomers and although she cut it way shorter than I wanted, he does look cute. However, I've never noticed before how dry his skin is! He never scratches! It almost looks like a bit of dandruff to explain it better and now noticeable on his short fur. Need some suggestions to help his skin, either from the inside or out. Thanks so much |
I am sorry Enzo is going through this, but I am glad you posted. I noticed that Lana has some pretty bad dandruff. At first I thought it was because she had been in a shelter and wasn't properly bathed, but she scratches at her skin and has patches of thick dandruff. She even has some hair loss in a few places. I am anxious to hear suggestions for this. |
I'm hoping someone will have some suggestions - is he lacking oils in his diet or is there some kind of leave in conditioner that I could put on? |
Mocha had that problem a couple of years ago. Temporary Fix: Use oatmeal shampoo and conditioner and not bath so often (I bath him once a week. During the dry skin month, I only bath him once every 2 weeks). Long term fix: Add more fish to his diet. I mixed the Orijen Six Fish Formula to his regular food and the dandruff went away after a few weeks. So I kept that in his diet from then on. No more problems what so ever, even after I went back to bathing once a week (normal shampoo, not oatmeal) Six Fish Dog | Orijen I use Orijen because I don't like supplements. However, since Orijen is not easy to find locally, I heard you can buy fish oil and add to the food. You might want to give that a try. |
