Therapy Dog or Service Dog Info needed I have my Layla and she is extrememly loving and sweet and so smart . I am interested in taking her to nursing homes and also possibly training her for service with a family members disability and therapy . I am not totally sure where to start, my internet search pulled up some info , but not in my area. If any one has trained their yorkie or has any help I would appreciate any. Thanks so very much in advance :D |
here are some threads that discussed this. In the first one, get in touch with the original poster this coming Friday... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...hlight=therapy With this one, just read the actual article and try to ignore the rest. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...hlight=therapy |
For our homes we require that the dog have a certificate of health with vaccination record and references that he dog is well socialized. We haven't had any problems in any of our homes and use this service in 3 states. Check with local nursing homes in your area and they can probably put you in touch with someone. :) Good luck and I do hope you will pursue this, it is a great benefit to the elderly residents, they look forward so much to the visits! |
there's a local therapy pet group with a website. their website links to other therapy pet groups as well as national groups. depending on where you are located maybe one of these links will help: http://www.therapypets.org/ |
Thanks so much for the help ! Cant wait to get started. |
