Had a huge scare today!! Earlier today I left the house to take my mom shooting (I recently bought a .40 cal pistol and wanted my mom to try it out). Well, normally when I go somewhere that Sasha can't go with, I leave her collar off (its always off when I'm home with her) and crate her up. Today I decided, well DH is home, ill leave her out and it should be fine. Sasha is still terrified of my hubby, but I hoped maybe not having me around she'd use him for comfort. So anyway I go shoot and to lunch only to come home and Sasha is no where to be found! DH says he figured she was hiding somewhere, but any of her usual spots were all empty and she wasn't coming to me, which she ALWAYS does. I go into panic mode looking. I went out front and called her, suddenly here she is, running as fast as she can up to me. Luckily we live on a cold-e-sac so traffic wasn't a huge danger. She was trembling and had dirt all over. I was so relieved to see she had no wounds or anything. So, I figured out she either found some hole in the fence, which is doubtful because I've scanned everywhere, or our gardeners let her out. They were here when I pulled up and the gate was open, so I'm assuming it was them. We have a doggy door so likely she went outside when i left to look through the fence. :( . Needless to say, they'll be getting an earful from me, and Sasha will be in her crate when I'm not home! I gave her a bath and have been cuddling her all afternoon. I feel so guilty! Poor baby was so scared. She's okay now and sleeping on me. Thank you God! |
Glad she safe but...Doggy doors...another reason why I don't like them. The dog scared of the hubby?? Is he making effort to like the dog?? Yorkies always like family ime?? |

And yeah, the doggie door was already in our house when we bought it, and our other dogs use it. I always go out with Sasha though, and she normally doesn't use it. She only did today out of desperation :( |
Very scary! I'm glad your Sasha girl is safe and sound. I hope she will grow accustomed to your husband. How old is she? |

How scary. I am so glad you found her. |
Glad she is home and ok. Maybe try and let your husband take over taking care of her. Feeding, treats etc. it might help |
OMG!! Sasha.............1 yardmen..........0 doggie door.......GONE!!! |

I agree with Verbena's suggestion to let your husband try feeding her meals. Put the food in the dish and have him put it on the floor, say a little something to her, maybe just her name, and walk away. Have him praise her for good things. |

Is Cali gun friendly like Florida? Care to share your brand of choice? I am a fan of this load and have my wife and daughters practice with it, so they get used to it even if they like the lighter 9mm. |
Bless your hearts! I'm so glad it turned out ok. |
Oh my gosh how scary!!! So glad Sasha is okay! Poor thing and poor you. :( |
Very scary!! So glad it all worked out and you came home when you did! |
Glad she is ok but please be careful with a doggy door. No dog under 10 pounds should be outside alone ever and when there are people who are going to be in your fenced in area the doggy door needs to be shut not only can the dog get out but some people are not nice to dogs or may use products not safe to them. If you husband isn't going to watch her well then I would suggest using a play pen. |
Thanks every one! I too am so, so grateful nothing terrible happened. I learned my lesson, that's for sure! As far as her and my hubby, I'm not gunna push her or rush her. She'll see in time that he is pretty predictable lol. Hes also going to start giving her treats every time he comes home from work, so she'll associate his presence with food and fun! Quote:
