What brands of shampoo and conditioner?
 
I was wondering what brands are good for yorkies. I just want a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for my little guy. :) Definetely doesn't have to be anything that show dogs use, just a good one. Thanks for any info.

Preferences probably vary depending on the type of coat a pup has.

My ZoE has a silky coat, but her hair is fine & very slow growing. I like Isle of Dogs the best. I also use Minksheen, especially in the summer, for it's bug repellent properties. But, I've also used people Nexxus & Patene products with great success too.

I use Espree natural puppy shampoo..it's great. It's tearless & it's not made with oatmeal so it won't take off ur flea/tick med.

Espree Tea Tree Oil & Aloe Shampoo
Espree Remoistureizng Conditioner

We use Yorkie Splash (shampoo), Yorkie Shine (conditioner) and Yorkie Sheen (spray detangler & finish). They have a wonderful light scent and Sophie's coat looks shiny and feels very soft. These products are great and are made by YT member Walnut Hill. You can goggle Yorkie Splash & Shine. I highly recommend them.:thumbup:

I am using John Paul Pet Cleanse Tea Tree Shampoo. It is supposed to soothe & moisturize plus it is cruelty free. It is what the doggie daycare/rescue people where I adopted Milo (my little one) recommended. I bathe him once a week and so far (two months) it has done a very good job.

I use the Espree products also. The same ones mentioned by the previous poster to this message. I bathe Princess Sophie each week and her coat always looks shiny. We love it!! Espree products can be found at PetSmart and PetCo. Probably online stores as well.

I have , and use, everything you mentioned except I like the ISB products , especially the PEK, but since Cali is a one-gal squirrel patrol and is in the yard most of the day I have to bath her a out every 3 days - so I use the quick MinkSheen com inked shampoo and conditioner (I know the killing little cute mink thing is bad, but I also wear leather shoes....bad). Anyway, minksheen works great and if I had several Yorkiesmto bath I know I would use it more because it is fast!

My problem is getting the conditioner rinsed out well enough - Cali has a thick coat the must really suck up the conditioner because I have trouble getting it rinsed well.

Thanks for all the recommendations! I just ordered some yorkie splash and shine. And I didn't realize that we live in the same city. :) Cant wait to try it.

I've been using Pantene on Dolly for 9 years & she has great skin & floor length shiny blond hair. My Teena is an allergy dog though, & I'm trying everything to stop her from itching-I've never bought the same dog shampoo twice.

When I first joined YT everyone was talking about ISB products and PEK conditioner so I ordered some. It was very expensive and I didn't really care for it so it sat in the back of my cabinet for about 2 years. One of my girls started having flaky, dry skin so I dug out the PEK conditioner and mink oil from ISB, mixed some together and diluted it down in a quart of warm water. The dry, flaky skin has disappeared. This is the first post I have seen in a long time about someone using ISB products. I have been wanting to post a thread to see if anyone was still using ISB.

Cowboy Magic is amazing!

One of my best friends has horses and she gave me cowboy magic detangler to use on my last yorkie, when I was considering shaving her down, after she got matted really bad & had burrs in her hair, after we spent the weekend at a festival held in a field. It was worked great...helped remove all the burrs & tangles & left her hair smooth & shiny.

I LOVE MinkSheen too, but decided not to use it anymore (after current bottle is gone:p) bc the inhumane treatment to the beautiful mink & they get killed just to get the oil (& other parts) extracted.:(:thumbdown I purchased cedarwood oil & add a drop to their reg shampoo to repel fleas & insects, plus I like the smell...some people don't like the smell of minksheen.

In stores, you can get Pet Head, awesome product, all natural, paraben & sulfate free. I also like IOD Everyday NatuaLuxury line, also sulfate & paraben free. All smells wonderful, safe to use w/topical products & leaves the fur butts fluffy & soft for days!

I think you will love Splash & Shine products. Our groomer really likes these products as well. Not to mention Sarah from Walnut Hill is an awesome person! She is also Sophie's breeder. :D

I have been talking to her and she seems very nice. I've read a few reviews about her products and I hope they work for my pup as well as it does for others. :)
