thoughts on Lana 3 Attachment(s) First, we will be bringing Lana home next Thursday. She is 5 or 6 and has lived her life as a breeding dog in a cage. So I am not sure that she actually knows her name. We are thinking of calling her Anna Belle. Do you think that would be a big mistake? Next, here are a few pics. The shelter that rescued her labeled her as a yorkie. She has been groomed and I am not sure what her facial hair normally looks like but her leg hair appears to be pretty short. Do you think she is a red-legged yorkie or do you think she is a "designer breed"? (Yes, I know there is no such thing but it does sound a little nicer.) |
I don't know the answers to your questions, but I do know she looks adorable. Congrats!! :) |
She's adorable! She looks like a yorkie to me. :) I don't think it's a big deal to change her name, especially if she isn't responding to it anyways. My puppy mill rescue was named Savannah by the rescue, and we changed her name to Lane. I'm so happy you are rescuing her, and I can't even begin to tell you what an amazing experience it will be to watch her come out of her shell. Any time my Lane shows confidence I feel such a sense of pride, which is admittedly a bit ridiculous. |

I think she is absolutely adorable, love her the way she is. She does look all Yorkie to me. Changing her name shouldn't be a problem, if she doesn't know her name now. BUT if she responds to her name now, and you still want to change it, try and find something that might sound like her current name. This is what I did with my Luci. Bless you for adopting this girl, she looks like such a sweet heart and thes babies have so much love to give. |

It's really normal for them to want to hang out in their crates. As sad as it is to think about, it's all they knew for so many years, which is why it's comforting to them. It hasn't happened recently, but sometimes Lane would just start pacing and freaking out, I could just tell, and I'd put her in her carrier, so the smallest space possible and she'd calm down and be very content in there. I still don't know what set her off. Once it was after pest control had sprayed our unit while we were out. It was crazy. Someone said it could have been like PTSD from the scent. There are some great links about rehabbing a puppy mill dog. Let me see if I can find them.
