Ugh this potty training thing is getting to me! She is just not getting it it seems..I can take her out constantly, and she'll go...but she still continues to go in the hosue ALL the time! And doesn't even attempt to come and find me to let me know she has to go out! She doesn't come out of my bedroom without a ton of prompting, or if the kids are gone.... So now of course hubby is getting to his limit with our room smelling like pee! On top of the million things I have to do today, I also need to shampoo the carpets again with simple solution! i dont know what else to do! I know she's in heat........and she is soaking through the diapers in no time!!!! But OMG! Im so terrified about taking her away next week........I wont be able to let her out of my site...and when we are out for the day and she's in the RV, she'll have soaked her diaper..but I can't not keep one on her cause of her spotting...and I dont have access to laundry to wash out the two I have :( And then I need to keep washing her as well! Ok I'll quit rambling........just needed a place to vent where someone understands how hard it is! |
Isn't there anyone you could leave her with that you trust and she'd be happy with? |
I know it is really hard - is there a way for her to be able to go out without asking? That is what really helped Rowdy - when we put in a doggy door, then he could go out without finding us to ask to go out (which he was NOT very good at either). Some use a bell at the door. Rowdy was just like your baby in that he would always go when I took him outside, but he would go inside too. I was lucky though in that I could confine him to the den which has stained concrete floors, so the potty spots were so easy to clean up and didn't leave a smell. When we got the doggy door (at about 5 months old), then he started going out by himself and rarely had an accident after that. Stay strong, it will get better. I feel your pain about taking your baby to someone else's house too - I can't let Rowdy out of my sight either because he doesn't know how to ask to go out. He will go stand by the door at my daughter's house, but if you don't see him, then he will go inside. Good luck! |
I dont have anyone I could really leave her with. My mom has kept her overnight (and surprisingly no accident there!) but I can't leave her with her all week...mom works and all.... No way can I do a doggy door here..we are in the woods..and she takes off if you let her off the leash (only had her about 2 months now) so that isn't an option........... |
Amy, why don't you buy her human preme baby diapers and cut a hole out in the back and then put her cloth diaper on over the baby diapers. I am not sure what you are putting in your cloth diaper to obsorb the liquid but if the cloth diaper is big enough put a full size kotex (I haven't used them in years) in her diaper. Have you talked to your vet about the amount of liquid she is producing? This sound like more than normal but I am just not sure. I don't know if she has a medical problem or not. |

do you think maybe she has a UTI? Great..and we leave Monday morning :0( |
I hope she doesn't have a kidney or uti problem. My 8.5 month old goes once of a morning and doesn't go again until 11:30 and then usually (not always) will not go again until about 4:30. |
When Muffin got a UTI she would go just a little bit, but real frequently. The thing is that Daisy is in heat and that might be all it is. Hard to say! |

If she is urinating an excessive amount, that may be a sign of diabetes - I don't mean to scare you - but excessive drinking and urinating can be a sign of diabetes. It's probably not life treatening at this time - but something that I would check out after the holidays - especially if she drinks a lot of liquid. I do understand about living in the woods and not being able to let them out by themselves - we used to live in the same setting, but not anymore. Good luck! |

Sorry I assumed she went out with her so she could praise her when she went potty. Probably toooo cold where they live also brrrrr. Well as Amy said she is just trying to get through the next week so hopefully she can take her to the vet when she gets back. Amy the other thing you could do in the bedroom is get her an excercise pen and then put a tarp down so she stops peeing into the carpet. I understand this struggle as I am ripping out all of my carpet because the rescue gang loves to pee on carpet. If I remember right this was a breeders dog who may or may not have kept her kenneled all the time but obviously never housetrained her. This makes it twice as difficult to housetrain. |

I DO go out with her, she has to be on a harness/leash when outside, and I DO praise her each time she goes outside.... Sadly, there is no room for a pen in my room...only other choice I have is a bathroom...or crate her..but she still messes in teh crate, then Im washing her, the crate, and the blanket each time! She was a kennel dog...not trained :( |
