strolling through the Poo..COME ON! Jess has decided in the last few days that it would be great fun when moms gone for a half hour or so to take a poo poo, then run all through it and smear it all over her 5 foot long crate! Bed, floor you name it! She's done this the last three days in a row! I have to take her out and bath her feet, take the bottom off my crate (its a long two room crate with a bottom) clean it and hose it off and bring it back in...needless to say I"ve been less than thrilled. She is out of that crate all day when Im home, only in when I go out as she just cant be trusted in a room. Its not the pee or poo im so concerned as she become really good about going to her crate to do her business Its that she could eat something, chew something, jump on something and reinjure her leg in a room. How do I get Jess to realize poo is not finger paints????? |

Finger paints, lol, ewww! :p I'm confused, does she have a pad in the crate? You indicated that she is really good about going to the crate to potty when you are home and she has free roam. When Teddy was young and I would put the boys in the bedroom when workmen came to the house, Teddy always had to poop right away. I think it was nervous excitement. Jess probably has to poop because she is anxious about being left alone, and then gets a little worked up in her crate and makes the mess. That is a challenge. |
I never crate trained my guys, but I did use an ex-pen, connected 2 together & made a huge space for them. Maybe you can graduate her to an ex-pen? Have the pee pad far back where she won't step on it to greet you, water, food bowl & bed on the other side, away from the pee pad. Or maybe you can gate off a section of a room or the kitchen for easier clean ups. |
Her crate is an extra long puppy apt. She has about 4 feet b 3.5eet of bed, play area, water then you step through a door to a 1.5 foot by 3.5 ft potty area with a peed pad in it...she has not had a house accident in a long time (except when she had the runs, but I caught her in the act) she just runs back in forth through the two rooms and doesn't care if she walk in the poo and drags it around. She never eats it, thank god and always barks after she poos telling me to clean it. unfort if im not home then well,, My kitchen is like 30feet long with wide open walls to the family room. So keeping her there isn't an option. My laundry room isn't big as I have a second fridge and freezer in there that she is terrified of. My spare rooms have "white carpet" (not my choice, it was already there)Shes a hoover so I cant leave her in the kids rooms and Im also afraid she would try and get on their beds or something and Id end up with another broken limb..Im at a loss...... |
Mine will poo in the right place, but if I don't clean it up right away she likes to sniff it and lick it. It turns my stomach. Ugh! |
