These tiny knot clumps Hello okay so at only 5 months peanut he has these tiny knot clumps. Don't know what Im doing wrong, but brushing them hurts him. Overall I can run my fingers through the hair but there are these clumps. I have a brush but I need a smaller one for these clumps. Do you guys use a certain conditioner or detangler spray?? |
In addition to brushing, you need a good comb. Jenny (Mimimomo) sells a Madan mustache/leg comb on her site: www.toplinepet.com She also sells the rat tail comb which is great for pulling apart tangles and for making topknots, and many other uses. I also like the Chris Christensen face and leg buttercomb. Use it all over the body to prevent tiny tangles or to get them out. To detangle, I use Pet Silk silk serum. Some people use simple corn starch. You apply it dry to dry hair to give the knot some "slip." |
Yes I agree you need a good (medium tooth) comb to pull or separate those tangles and clumps. I use a spray bottle with some conditioner in it and a comb. I also use a Matt Removing Comb (without cutting blades) for those really tuff ones. Spray the tangle/clump, use fingers to loosen up the area (pulling apart) and than the comb to comb out the area making sure that you have a good grip at the base when attempting to comb any stubborn areas so that you dont hurt your pup. Take a look at my site for grooming tips and the tools that I keep in my grooming kit. Grooming - Dawn's Yorkies |
