I saved a turtle today.... I was rushing to leave for work. I let the "pack" out for one last pee. I have to watch sammy :animal36to be sure he pees (he is the one with the kidney problems) so I did not have my eyes on the yorkies.:aimeeyork:aimeeyork I hear intense barking... went to look .. the yorkies:aimeeyork:aimeeyorkhad a turtle as big as they are cornered on a fence post. Poor turtle was trying to get away... they were barking like they were going to kill. oh my:( I managed to lift a section of the fence near the turtle that is wire.. that turtle ran down the slope and was in the water in the blink of an eye:D Of course Remy :aimeeyorkruns to that spot each time I let her out... trying to see if she can get out of the fence. sigh |
Good job saving the turtle from Remy the a turtle Slayer! |
1 Attachment(s) I bet the turtle really appreciated your interference! I once found a box turtle wedged inside a square of my chain link fence. After I pried it out my collie mix wouldn't stop following it around until bed time! :p |
They are good little protectors from the evil turtle |
Aw, turtle got to go home to the family! You've definitely been a friend to the animal kingdom today. |
Poor turtle will probably be spreading the word to stay out of your yard! Lol :p |
Good job, Shinja! I always stop to save turtles when they try to cross the road. We used to get a lot of that at the shore in NJ. I see some down here as well. |
Good job helping the poor little turtle. Turtles and frogs are two of my favorite little critters Genea |

That thought occured to me. I did not pick up... I looked on the internest and I think it was a yellow belly turtle. What I wonder...is how the turtle got into my yard???? Will my fur buts find that weak spot before I do??? |
oh boy well i hope it was a on time visit and usually you cannot mistake the mouth of a snapper. glad you saved the turtle and the babies were unharmed and humored by that strange thing...how dare it come in their space. hehe |

yes...that is what they were saying lol:) |
I love box turtles..snapping turtles not so much. Glad you are such an observant mommy..it could have been a bad situation if you hadn't been out there. |

lol... kind of hard to miss two yorkies barking their heads off. It did take a second or two to see what they were barking at. I will say once the turtle was on the "other side" of the fense he moved FAST....right into the water. |
Way to go, Shinja. I am sure that the turtle is happy! |
Good for you! I once saved a baby sparrow from my dogs. The mom either pushed it out of the nest or it fell. I kept it save for awhile and then one day we let him/her loose and it took off. |
haha. good day for little turtle! |

Good job saving that turtle. :) We had one in our backyard once too. Piccolo thought she was the queen of hunters barking at the poor little guy. (I guess that is about her speed of hunting. ;)) That turtle had to be rescued, too. |
I love turtles. You must have quite a bit of reptile visitors there in Florida! A town nearby has two ponds almost in the center of town. A main street runs down between them. It seems there are often turtles that can't decide which pond they want to reside in so turtle rescues are an common event there. It seems your dogs are ready to defend their property from any intruders! |
