Old lady had a tyrade! I was getting my hair cut yesterday and while i was in the hair salon there was an older woman in there talking about dogs... The thing that caught my attention was that they were talking about the difference between yorkies and silkies .... the woman said "silkies are bigger..... if a yorkie gets any bigger than 7 lbs than it isnt a yorkie, its a silky" :thumbdown (i kind of laughed at her to myself and just shrugged it off.... because my boy is 13 lbs) so then she GOES ON, and says "i dont know what they think theyre doing these days. everyone is into that 'positive reinforcment' thing which is ridiculous. I have NEVER done that with my dogs, if they are bad then they get spanked and a good NO or are punished, they NEVER got praised and they turned out just fine".... man she just wouldnt shut up, i would hate to be a dog that lived with her what a sad existance her dog must have had.... and positive reinforcement is not a "new thing" its been around for ages.. my mom has ALWAYS taught her dogs with positive reinforcement... I was secretly hoping the hairdresser would cut her BALD |

Well I have a 8 to 10 pound Yorkie depending on training levels. I have seen a silky first hand and she not one. She is clicker all the way now. As a cross over trainer that worked the old ways and saw them fail first hand and badly. I never would have believed what a clicker and kind words could do before I had to look at it. My girl lost her way cause I practiced the old school stuff plus a bad start with her first owners. After being rolled by a pit bull not long ago she working hard again to try and hang in and not be scared. Positive works and well and it goes deep into trust and respect that rough tough and spanking does not. What is built in love is strong what built in fear only lasts till the fear is gone. Joy |
That woman sounds like she is a baby HITLER with her dogs - too bad they didn't cut her hair to match the personality |
Her dogs need to be rescued!! Instead of licensing dogs, the owners like her ought to pass a test and be licensed!! |
That old lady sounds a little warped if you ask me. |
