Final attempt to fix that lazy ear. Well Bentley has a little "crown" on his head at the moment. Guess it will be his fashion statement for the next couple of days. Thought everyone might enjoy a good laugh. He looks so cute like this. Tape does not appear to bother him. How long should I leave it up? Seen conflicting time frames. He will be 6 months on the 27th so I'm guessing if we don't get that ear up soon that will be it, lop ear little boy. lol |

Ahhh...what a cutie. I have seen various tape 'up' times, too...everywhere from 3 days to 1 week or more. I think I might go by the tape. It it's looking bad and starting to come off after 3-4 days or getting sticky ooze on his ears, I might take it down anyway to refresh it, clean the ears, and let the ears 'breathe' and if the ear stays up, not put any more tape back in. But, that's just a guess 'cuz tape gets icky after a bit. |
Bently is so cute with that one flop ear, tho...:D |

Awww what a little prince! |
he is so handsome either way:thumbup: |
Thanks all. I'm going to remove the tape tomorrow evening. What happens, happens. I know I have heard from a few YT'ers that they have had dogs that had ears go up on their own after 6 months. He's done great with the tape but I worry about what if any damage the skin could suffer by not having air circulation. So this is it on the taping. Up or down I love him and both his ears lol. |
I know nothing about taping. Just had to say how cute and adorable he is!! ;) |
I taped one of mine at 9 months, left the tape up for three days. It worked. Good luck! |
Ears up or down, Bentley is adorable. Good luck on the "Operation Perky Ears" project. |

I'd change the tape every two or three days. Make sure the floppy ear is totally shaved inside and out. It may take three or four weeks since he's already almost six months old. |
I was going to let Guinness's ears breathe after 48 hours but when I took off the tape his ears stayed up from that point on so I never had to retape. Stella ears are a hopeless cause so far :p |
Pixie had 1 ear up and 1 ear down until she was 7 months old and one day it just sprung up. I never taped though. |
Jersey had one lazy ear...it finally stayed up at 11mths of age. Been taping on and off since she was 5mths old. |
Aww he's so cute!! I kept the tape on Bella for 3 days, it wasn't long enough. Her ears were up for 2 days after that & then flopped right back down.. So now at some point I have to do it again. I would go at least 5-7 days w/cutting the tape in between so she is more comfortable. Good luck :) |
We have two ears!!! 2 Attachment(s) His upright ear was string to look floppy even though I had the piece of tape between the two ears. I was getting worried so I broke down and took the tape off. We now have TWO ears!!!! Ok well two upright ears. lol |
Oh my, he is just so darn cute!! |
Yay!! My Bentley had issues too. I taped his ears off and on for what seems like forever and the left ear still flopped over. I had taped and tipped, but no luck. Well, after posting my frustrations here and investing in a moustache clipper, he decided he wants both ears up. Lol. I was using a regular clipper, but I think the moustache clipper shaved closer and took more hair off and now both his ears are up and have been for 2 weeks. So, there is hope, even at 1 year old. :-) |
Luma's ears went up immediately but were kinda funky for a while from the tape. Rosie's were down when she came home and for the first week. I tried taping but got her hair stuck in the medical tape and I felt so bad...I decided ti let what happens, happen. She had one up one floppy for a good bit...now they're both up :) What helped us was massaging the base of the ears "upwards"...I really think it helped! |

Well they are up still this morning. I'm starting to think his ears get tired. lol After last night's post later that evening when it was bedtime BOTH ears were flopped down. After both his ears got a good night sleep they are perky again this morning. lol Go figure. |
You can give him a little bit of cottage cheese or plain yogurt for calcium. When they teeth it takes the calcium from the cartilage in their ears. :) |
Oakley will be 6 months on the 18th and his ears still flop. Guess he'll join the "crown" club shortly. |
ARGH!!!!! I come home to both ears down today. This boy is doing this on purpose I swear. lol |
hahaha Paisley and I are having the ear battle right now :) |
