Sorry, I can't help you, but I am sure someone here can. Why do you want him registered that way? Just curious. :) |

Registration is important if you want to breed, is that your plan? |
In APRI you just down load the form and send in your money, along with a copy of your AKC registration. Email this address and ask for the form. apr@aprpets.org |

I don't speak for anyone else but my feelings are that you should honor the agreement you made and register it under AKC and DO NOT BREED. Now I can't be your conscience but to reg it in any other club so you can breed it is DISHONEST. And if you aren't intending to breed then your AKC papers are enough. These ( as a breeder ) are my feelings and I am sure you will hear from others on this. |

If this dog was sold to you under limited- the breeder did not want him or her bred. The major reason to register under another registry is if you are trying to play unfair and breed your dog. Some will use this for another avenue for obedience/agility but not many new owners Not nice- you are not playing by the rules if you are planing to breed. This is a good reason to have the dog altered before you place it in a companion home. This stops this type of monkey business. |
Hope I'm not posting this twice. My Bichon came with a limited registration because he has a "corkscrew tail" ---- a very serious fault in a Bichon. The breeder required that I neuter my Bichon before she sent me the papers. The papers I received stated that he had a "Limited Registration and that any pups he might have could not be registered." This is the way it should be. Purebred dogs with nonstandard faults should not be bred. And, a "Limited Regististration" helps keep this from happening. Now I have my Yorkie. His registration is not limited, but after having him for a while, I know he should not be bred either. He is going to be larger than standard, and I have a feeling that his colors may end up way off base. A lot of faults do not show up until a puppy becomes older. For this reason, breeders and (educated) owners both need to be aware of purebred standards and breed only to improve or maintain them. But - the world is far from perfect - right? Carol Jean |
Way to jump the gun. This person was asking an honest question and is being accused of being dishonest and wanting to breed. I read Kuhl's posts and I don't see anywhere where it says s/he wants to breed. |
Dear Kuhl - You can register your pup (you stated in the first post it was your pup "my") with AKC - it will have papers just that it will be limited. This just means that you can't breed him. The others are right about why register him with another group unless you are trying to breed? So far this is what we are understanding. Please expain if we have it wrong. We are here to help you, so please don't take us wrong. Maybe you need to say more about what you are confused about, so we can help more. T. |

I have a couple that are dual registered but they have full AKC first. |
Folks, Kuhl is only 14 years old - I looked after she said she didn't own the dog. She has another thread that they are looking at a dog that is a 1 1/2 old. |
