Toby is going to be alone on christmas I have made the decision to leave toby home on christmas.... we are all going to my moms house and there is going to be TONS of people there. I am leaving him home for several reasons: 1) people are going to be going in and out of the gate and he could get out (my mom lives on a busy street) 2)My uncle will be there with his dog: My uncle is confined to a wheelchair (he is a quadropelegic... cant move anything except his head) and his dog is not necessarily a service animal, but she goes with him EVERYWHERE. Last christmas when toby was a puppy his dog was growling agressively and almost attacked my brother, toby, ect... I dont want an accident to happen because his dog is psycho agressive. 3)People feeding toby food or stepping on him I guess he will have a nice quite christmas playing with the toys from his stocking and gloating because our cat isnt getting anything for christmas (toby has a thing for catnip, and has a tendency to DESTROY the cats toys... but he miraculously leaves his toys intact  )... oh well, he is safer this way :D |

Don't feel bad...We'll be leaving our four to go to my Mom's house too. My mom has new carpet and hardwood flooring and she really isn't an "inside" dog person...only me and my sissy who has a Scotty. I can assure you though...we won't be gone long :D My Mom always knows that we rush home because of our dog kids :) |

Probably a good idea. i am taking Cali to my parents too with about 12 people all immediate family and no other dogs or little kids there. But even though I take her with to my parents once a week, I have a crate all set up for her there on Thanksgiving I put her in her crate for awhile to give her a break and my brother noticed she was shaking in her crate so i wil wych her very carefully. |

SHHHHHHH! Don't tell him that it is Christmas and sneak out. Then, celebrate with him the next day. Seriously, I know we feel terrible about leaving them on a holiday, but as in a case like this, it is the best decision. Lots of strangers who are not used to being responsible for these little guys can spell DISASTER!! I agree with your decision and will be doing the same. I will take 3 of my youngest ones and an Xpen and the rest will enjoy the day tearing up their stuff... |

Thats why Im glad we're having Xmas at my house! But I am nervous about taking her to NJ for a week!! She won't leave my lap when we go visit anywhere.....and if we're going to be going shopping for the day, etc...she'll have to stay in the RV. Safer than trying to take her places..and I dont ahve a bag for her yet :( |

I know just how you feel - I was going to leave Rowdy on Thanksgiving day for the very same reasons, but in the end, I just couldn't do it. So, I wore my chest carrier - it's like a backpack but sits in front - and Rowdy rode in it all day. He just snuggled down and slept much of the time - the rest of the time, he just sat up and looked around. I know everyone probably thought I was crazy, but I just couldn't leave him at home and I couldn't let him down at my daughters. When I did sit down, he sat in my lap. I know your baby will be fine at home though! Happy Holidays! |

I bet if we asked them, our furbabies would rather be at home. I have company coming also to my Dad's and I may take the girls over for a few m inutes (the 10 week old needs some socialization) but I'll take them back home. It's just too much for me even with unwrapping stuff and eating and talking. |

Atleast you know he will be safe! :) We open our gifts early in the morning, then go down to my fiance's grandma's house! We all live in walking distance of each other! Then we eat breakfast, take a nap, then go back down there! Gidget usually goes when we go back! I like everyone to get to see her, and to let her feel the xmas spirit!!! LOL :D |
