Itcyh skin Is anyone else having problems with their baby itching. I am not sure what to do. I did find one flea crawling on Sammy but that is all. He gets his flea and tick meds regularly but for the last couple weeks he has been scratching him self silly. Last year this happened and I had the vet give him a allergy shot but did not help much. Are Yorkies prone to grass allergies? We just cut the grass and it seems that is when it starts. Any suggestions???:animal-pa |
Hi Cathy! You really need to check his food. I had a little poodle allergic to her food. Spent lots of money at a dog derm dr. and he recommended venison diet. My poodle cleared up. You must use a food that has no preservatives and non-allergic. Alot of food out there is junk. Check and I hope this helps. Also wash with a very gentle hypo-allergenic shampoo. |
Max used to get hot patches on one of his front paws in the springtime and he had one once when he was little on the side of his belly. The vet gave him something similar to benadryl and he would stop licking, biting, scratching, the area. It also helped with his allergies later in his life; he would sneeze and have watery eyes like crazy, come spring. Eye drops and a little medicine would clear him right up. lol A little human, he was lol. |
Hi there, Thanks so much for your help. My groomer is doing him now to see if he has any fleas or ticks. I do make him homemade food. Chicken, rice and carrots. He also get a very good dry food for dogs, Orijen or similar. However we also have a boxer and Sammy tends to sneak his food. I will have to raise the boxers food bowls so Sammy can't reach it. I guess it will be a process of allimination. My groomer also suggested I call my vet and find out the exact portion of benedyl to give him. See thinks that may help. I just feel so bad for the little guy. |
Yes thanks I may need to call the vet and get something. He was fine until spring came. |
Jess is the same. sneezing itchy esp under her chin..I give her 2-3ml of benadryl a couple times a day. It does help.. |
Thanks Jess, My groomer and vet suggested the same thing. I will try it. |
