Meet Bentley! 1 Attachment(s) I am so excited! This will be the first time I own a puppy!! He's 5 weeks old, I just took this picture of him :) I have to wait four more weeks to pick him up! I am so anxious! I was thinking about getting a cloud 9 bed for him, will it be too big for a puppy? Also, is he too big for his age? (He's 4 weeks old in the pic) How much do you think he's going to weigh? The breeder says 8 lbs..:-/ I thought it was a little too big but I am already in love with him and his teddy bear face makes me go awww everytime I see him !! :) |

Welcome to Yorkie Talk and congratulations on your new puppy! Bentley is adorable. He probably will be a big boy. We have a "Teapot" club here (a little joke on teacup). :) The general rule is to double the weight at 12 weeks and maybe add a pound to guess adult size. Many Yorkies don't follow the rules. Cloud 9 beds are washable. I don't think it would too big for Bentley. There are pups his size who love them. |

This pic was taken on the same day, he looks smaller here :) |
Awww, Bentley is too cute!!! I think he would love a cloud 9 bed :) And, if he gets to be 8 lbs, that is great!! It's true that the "standard" says not to exceed 7 lbs, but boy I would feel so much more at ease over Mandie's safety and health if she ended up being 8 lbs. Also, since you are getting prepped and ready for Bentley's arrival, I wanted to recommend getting some puppy Nutrical to keep on hand. If you are bringing him home at 9 weeks old (it is actually recommended to let the toy breed dogs stay with their mama dog until 12 weeks because of they are a little more fragile by nature), any way..at 9 weeks, Bentley could get hypoglycemia (kind of common in younger yorkies) ...having Puppy Nutrical on hand and knowing the signs of hypoglycemia could be a life saver. I always kept it on hand in my house until Mandie turned 6 months old. ;) Your Bentley's pic is just too cute!! I can't stop looking at it lol |
Aww he's so cute! Bella looked big in her pics that I received before I got her too & she's tiny.. I have a pic of her on my page when she was 3 weeks old & she looks huge lol. But she's going to be on the smaller side. Congrats on ur new baby! :) |
So very very cute. Its so hard guessing the weights but 8 pounds is still pretty small my yorkie is 16 pounds and she still seems pretty small and I still carry her around. Yorkies should stay with there moms until 12 weeks because they are still learning so much from them moms like biting, socialization and potty training. Is there anyway your breeder could keep him a few more weeks with his mom? |
He is too cute! I just love his tiny little nose. I know you can't wait to get him home. |
Bentley is adorable! Congratulations! It's soooo hard to predict how big a puppy will be when they mature. The Yorkie growth chart didn't work for me. So I don't have any great advice for you about that. Sorry :( I will say that my 2 pups LOVE their Cloud 9 beds. They're really poofy, so it might take a couple of tries before Bentley learns how to climb in it. But once he gets in, he'll be so comfy cozy :) I hope Bentley brings you many years of love & happiness. Can't wait to see pictures of him as he grows up! |
The CloudNine bed comes in different styles and prices vary. I saw this one in Sam's Club for $18.26; CloudNine Cuddler Pet Bed - Green - Sam's Club |
Thanks everyone for your advice. I am getting Nutrical for him, for how long should I give it to him and how often? Thank you! |

Puppies should eat 3 times a day with maybe a small snack/treat in between meals. Make sure he has rest too. Sometimes if puppies are overhandled, have too many visitors/outings, it is overwhleming and will bring on hypoglycemia. Some puppies also need a little snack before bedtime or they will throw up a little yellow bile early in the morning. That is what my Teddy did. I started giving him 3-4 kibble before we went to bed and that cured his problem. |
He is a cutie. I would get him a cloud 9 bed. He will just love it |
He is really really cute, one of the cutest pups I've seen here on YT in a long time. Not to say that they are not all Cute as heck but your little fella is a little butter ball. I do believe that he will be beyond standard, way beyond for a Yorkie. He's quit larger than you would expect a pups with that size parents to be. But take it from me I know first hand about a pup out growing their parents. I have the parents and one of their pups who is a 18 lb, full blooded Yorkie. The parents were only 9-10 lbs each when breed and now weigh 14 & 16 lbs. |
