Don't eat the bees! This morning I was sitting at the table enjoying my breakfast and watching Henri play outside. Its really nice here right now and spring is everywhere! For Henri that means "bug hunting season" is open. He was doing his thing when all of the sudden he starts shaking and wiping his head all over, so I run out to see what was wrong when I saw a nasty bee on his snout! He has tried to eat bees before but I always stopped him, well this time he tried again and possibly got stung! I got the bee off and Henri started rubbing his snout really hard, I tried to see if there was a mark but his hair is too long. I called the vet just to be safe and they said he will be fine as long as his snout doesn't swell or get hives. The moral of the story: don't eat the bees! Henri won't be doing that again!:D;) |
I would get him some benadryl. Mandie got stung by a bee and a yellow jacket at the SAME time last summer :( If Henri still has the stinger in, it needs to be gotten out too. I think I'd take him on into the vet..get a benadryl and steroid shot... Bwess him heart |

I called the vet and they said he would be fine and to just watch him, he is good and acting his normal trouble-maker self:rolleyes: It looks more like the bee had bitten him instead of stinging, there is no stinger and the mark doesn't look like that of a bee sting. Thanks for the concern!:D |
Oh that is great news that the stinger isn't still in. That's different than what went on with Mandie. Poor girl had them coming and going (one on her face and one on her back leg/butt) lol So happy Henri is his normal happy self tonight! :) |

Yeah, Henri got back to normal quick! Hopefully he learned his lesson and won't mess with bees anymore :p |
Well it looks like Henri didn't learn his lesson, I caught him chasing another bee today! These little terror terriers are so stubborn!:p |
Daisy swallowed a bee once and her throat swelled up and I had to take her to the vet. I guess the bee stung her on the way down:( They gave her an antinflammitory shot and had me give her benedryl twice a day for a few days. |

Daisy was fine...but she still is fascinated with Bees! lol |
Henri Glad Henri is OK, if a bit sore - poor guy! My boy is a great flycatcher but also will try for bees too. Luckily I see the bee before he does and pull him away. I would hate for him to swallow one, as did Daisy above, that is scary. One issue I have is we seem to have half doped-out bees on the ground at some times of the year, and he treads on them and gets stung in the paw pad. He is so fast when one gets him, he quickly bites it off before the sting gets him and I see the squished bee on the ground. So far he has not been stung badly or has he swallowed one. It is so hard to keep our babies safe from critters! No more bees Henri!!! |
